His Holiness
Sri Srimad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj

His Holiness Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha [pronounced 'Nirya'] Maharaj came to Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math as a very young boy of fifteen-sixteen years old in March 2011. Receiving initiation from Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj on 19 March 2011, he received the name Sri Tilak Krishna Prabhu and was sent to serve at the Temple in Siliguri as the pujari. In Siliguri, he gradually and naturally took charge of the temple and had been very successfully managing the preaching and all temple activities. Later, having received the holy sannyas order from Srila Acharya Maharaj on 16 January 2016, His Holiness was then transferred to Sri Ekachakra Dham where he served as the full-time manager until about mid 2018 when Sri Gurupadpadma further transferred His Holiness to Sri Nrisingha Palli Temple and started very widely expanding his service responsibilities starting from collection, construction supervision to preaching door to door throughout Bengal and organising grand Vaishnav Seva festivals at Sri Nrisingha Palli and Sri Ekachakra Dham.

The photographs presented here are a few drops collected throughout the years that bear witness to His Holiness Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj's exalted and beautiful life dedicated to the service of his Sri Gurupadpadma Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj. We pray they may serve as an inspiration to the worldwide devotees' community of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, as well as give everyone some acquaintance with His Holiness's background and service position.

This year, arriving at Sri Ekachakra Dham, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj spoke about His Holiness Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj's service during the class:

After so many long days we have come again to Sri Ekachakra Dham, Sri Virachandrapur and at the appearance place of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu—we are very fortunate. We are very happy today because by the mercy of Gurudev, by the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu we are able to come to Sriman Nityananda Prabhu's appearance place.

We are staying here for a few days, but those who live here, who protect Nityananda Prabhu's appearance place, who protect His Dham, who protect Gurudev's temple here, who live here permanently—they keep a room for us, they keep accommodation for us, they keep prasadam for us—they do permanent service to Sriman Nityananda Prabhu. They are very fortunate, there is no doubt about that.

We come here like adventure-seekers, we come as pilgrims, people who like visiting different places—we come to this place only for the festival time, but those who do service here permanently, they are tolerating so many things to manage the temple—they are tolerating so much from the environment, from the atmosphere, they are tolerating so many obstacles; despite everything they keep protecting Gurudev's temple. This is our hope, and it is owing to them that why we are able to stay here, we are able to come and celebrate the festival Sriman Nityananda Prabhu's appearance day. That is our happiness. I am very grateful to them.

About His Holiness
Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj

(From the holy lotus mouth of Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj)

"Those who are fit for being disciplined are called disciples. They want to be chastised, they get chastised—such disciples become gurus. If somebody wants to be chastised, has been chastised, and if Gurudev has made and is making a disciple from them, then such a disciple has the qualities of a guru."

(Srila B.N. Acharya Maharaj,
Guidance 4, Chapter "Eternal sweet relationship between guru and disciple")

1 May 2021.
There are two sannyasis, one is twenty-six years old (Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj) and the other one is twenty-eight years old (Sripad Bhakti Chandan Vishnu Maharaj). I made one of them a sannyasi when he was a twenty-year-old brahmachari (Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj). Now he is twenty-six years old and he is taking care of my temple, a big temple.

You cannot imagine what kind of chastisement I give him (Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj). When my Gurudev, Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj came to the Mission, Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj told him, "You must follow me. Do not follow your mind." Srila Sridhar Maharaj told him only that. And Srila Sridhar Maharaj also beat my Gurudev, but I do not beat, but I think that what I did to him was actually more than beating. One time, I was there [Sri Nrisingha Palli] at Gaura Purnima and he made some mistake after Gaura Purnima (I told him to do something in one way, and he did more than that, following his mind), and after Gaura Purnima I told him to hold his ears and squat ten times in front of everybody. He is a sannyasi, but he did that happily in front of everybody without any shyness or anything. This is the kind of chastisement I gave him.

His father also gives him respect addressing him 'Maharaj' and paying dandavat to him. He also always addresses his father 'Prabhu'—he does not say 'dad' or 'papa'. I told his father that I will make a great preacher from this boy. From the beginning I have been teaching him and making him a great sannyasi who can be humble, tolerant and give honour to others. These are his good qualities. Not only that, he is truthful—he can never tell a lie. This is his very important quality. He has never told a lie in his life. It may sometimes be necessary to tell a lie for management, but if I was to tell him, 'Go there and tell a lie', he cannot do that. Such is his quality.

9 March 2020, Sri Gaura Purnima Day.
[When speaking about many of the present devotees:] "Sripad Niriha Maharaj is also there with us. He sometimes does not understand something easily, but he has a lot of good qualities: because he does not understand some things, I chastise him a lot, but he can tolerate it."

17 February 2016. Sri Ekachakra Dham.
[Sripad Niriha Maharaj is the Temple Manager at Sri Ekachakra Dham at this time.]
"This year I am not bringing anything to Ekachakra from Nabadwip. Every year I have been bringing rice, dal, vegetables—a truck full of bhog—but this year Sripad Niriha Maharaj told me he would manage from Ekachakra, and I told him I would help. He has the capacity to do it, so he is doing it. He was the temple manger in Siliguri before: it is a small temple, but he has got the qualification."

26 January 2018. Sri Ekachakra Dham.
[Sripad Niriha Maharaj is still the Temple Manager at Sri Ekachakra Dham at this time.]

5 February 2020.
"In Gurudev's time, from my brahmachari life, I have been going house to house, from one rice mill to another, I have been collecting rice, potato, etc. Now I am teaching Sripad Niriha Maharaj, he is also going house to house."

17 October 2020.
"Some devotees from Mayapur called Sripad Niriha Maharaj saying, 'We want to come on Acharya Maharaj's appearance day,' and I told Sripad Niriha Maharaj, 'If devotees want to come, then you can make a festival, what can I do? If somebody wants to come, we want to serve them.' So, Sripad Niriha Maharaj and Sripad Vishnu Maharaj invited everybody from Mayapur, Svarupgañj and Godrumdwīp and made a very big festival in Nrisingha Palli."

18 October 2020.
"...I was very happy to see yesterday that so many sannyasis, brahmacharis had come to Nrisingha Palli from Mayapur. Actually, I did not think they would come, that they would be so eager to come and join the festival in Nrisingha Palli, but later I told Sripad Niriha Maharaj, 'You can go and invite them.' In the end, so many devotees, brahmacharis and sannyasis, came from Mayapur yesterday.

24 January 2021.
"I have given Sripad Niriha Maharaj some of the preaching service—he has taken over preaching in the places where I used to preach in the early days. Sripad Niriha Maharaj is now preaching for Gaura Purnima. Also, I no longer go house to house to collect rice in villages, Sripad Niriha Maharaj is doing it now.

"To be able to stay within service full time is very rare—it is necessary to have a very great fortune to be able to serve from a young age. I am also trying to make full-time servitors from some boys... I gave sannyas to two brahmacharis when they were very young (Sripad Niriha Maharaj and Sripad Vishnu Maharaj), they were not even twenty-four years old at that time, but they are still serving very nicely—they do proper service, following all rules and regulations, doing everything properly. Now they go for preaching and doing very well."

21 March 2021.
"Some devotees here also do a lot of collection. I told that foreign devotees cannot come this year [2021], and many devotees did collections here, going and begging door to door every day. I also sent Sripad Niriha Maharaj and Ashok Prabhu to go house to house. They returned late at night yesterday—I was waiting for them, and when they came I saw they had brought much rice, dal, potato, some money, etc. I cannot go to all houses and programmes myself, I had to cancel some programmes also, but devotees went to many houses and did all that collection. Somebody gave dal, somebody gave sugar, oil, etc.—they give whatever they can, according to their capacity. Everybody helped this Nabadwip Dham parikrama in this way."

24 April 2021. "I called Sripad Niriha Maharaj and Sripad Vishnu Maharaj and told them to wake up early in the morning yesterday, to go temple to temple in Mayapur to invite all the Vaishnavs to the temple, and to give prasadam to everyone today."
