Power of Sankirtan

They are celebrating rasa-purnima in Nabadwip, it is apa-sampradaya and it is against Vaishnavs. Mahaprabhu's conception is becoming covered... First, they started doing Siva puja here, then gradually Kali puja, then other pujas, and you can see that every year they are spreading more. When I first joined the temple in 1992, it was not so wide-spread at that time. They are all atheists, and they are increasing their territory—now they do their pujas in the area of our crops field, Nadanghat, and even further. Sometimes, some five-six people meet together and decide, "Let's do puja too!"

It is Kalir prabhav (influence of Kali). There is so much influence of Kali here. Kali is always waiting for dyuta, pana, striya, suna—wherever there is gambling going on, wherever there is illegal sex going on, wherever there is whiskey, drinking alcohol going on, wherever there is animal slaughter, Kali stays there. People do all this, and Kali is so strong now.

To create a revolution, the Lord Himself should come again otherwise it will not be finished, it will only increase more and more.

Devotee: Which year did this festival start?

1756-1760. It started from one murti, and now there are more than three hundred...

To fight this kind of misconception it is necessary to have a strong preaching movement, sankirtan movement. We must engage in preaching movement, Mahaprabhu's sankirtan movement, and it is necessary to do it properly and strongly, otherwise these things will not be stopped. Sankirtan movement is necessary, strong preaching is necessary. In Mahaprabhu's time they always did sankirtan, non-stop—there were so many misconceptions, so many things were going on, but Mahaprabhu did not stop the sankirtan movement. Sankirtan movement—much preaching, much sankirtan—is necessary, otherwise this kind of misconception will not be stopped.

Krishna sent us here to preach about Him. What did Gurudev send us here for? What did Gurudev keep us here for? Only to enjoy? To take prasadam, do some little service and chant? No. We must distribute some things—we must give something to others, otherwise these people who are polluted by the bad environment cannot be rescued. When people come from their mother's womb, they are innocent, they are all clean, but when they get bad association they come under the influence of the illusory environment and that association. We must do something for these poor people.

At least two parties are necessary here—one party must always go village to village, and the other party will always preach in Kolkata. We have everything, we have all facilities, what is necessary is manpower and energy. If you can use your energy for preaching purpose, it will be beneficial for us and beneficial for everybody also. I myself do not like sitting in one place, it is not my job, but sometimes the situation is such that I have to stay longer in one place...

শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য-দয়া করহ বিচার ।
বিচার করিলে চিত্তে পাবে চমৎকার ॥

sri-krsna-chaitanya-daya karaha vichara
vichara karile chitte pabe chamatkara

"If you consider the mercy of Sri Krishna Chaitanya, you will be wonder-struck to realise it."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.15)

It is necessary to realise this, to preach this.

Nityananda Prabhu sings,

ভজ গৌরাঙ্গ, কহ গৌরাঙ্গ, লহ গৌরাঙ্গের নাম রে
যে জন গৌরাঙ্গ ভজে, সেই আমার প্রাণ রে

bhaja gauranga, kaha gauranga, laha gaurangera nama re
ye jana gauranga bhaje, sei amara prana re

"Worship Gauranga! Say Gauranga! Take Gauranga's Name! Those who worship Gauranga are My heart and soul!"

We must to preach about Nityananda Prabhu, preach about our Guru. Param Guru Maharaj said that by chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, doing kirtan—through this sound vibration of Hare Krishna maha-mantra—all kinds of misconceptions, all kinds of bad things go away. Just by the sound vibration. Sangopangastra parsadam: Mahaprabhu comes with His weapon. What is that weapon? Sango-pango: association. Through association people can be converted.

গৌর আমার যে সব স্থানে
করল ভ্রমণ রঙ্গে ।
সে সব স্থান হেরিব আমি
প্রণয়ি-ভকত-সঙ্গে ॥

gaura amara ye-saba sthane
karala bhramana range
se-saba sthana heriba ami
pranayi-bhakata-sange

"In the company of loving devotees, I behold all the places my Gaurasundar roamed during His ecstatic Pastimes."

You should do parikrama in the association of devotees...
