Matchless Mercy,
Matchless Misfortune

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Nabadwip Dham
14 December 2010

You must find some time to read the books. There are so many very good books: Benedictine Tree, Loving Search for the Lost Servant, Golden Volcano of Divine Love, Sri Guru and His Grace, and so on. There are many books by Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj, by Gurudev also.

Question: When you sing 'Parama Karuna' you also give some alternative wording, could you explain it?

emana dayala data
(eman dayal ke va achhe)

It means, "Who is the great donor in this world? Who is kind? Can you see anybody as kind as Nityananda Prabhu?" Nityananda means Gurudev—do you see anyone in this world who has more kindness than Gurudev? Gurudev is very kind to us—he always brings us for the service to the Lord. Our mind always takes us away, but Gurudev again brings us back.

(mar kheyeo nam prema yache)
(eman dayal ke va achhe)

"Mar kheyeo" means Nityananda gets a beating—He was beaten by Jagai and Madhai—but still He gives love and affection.

শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য-দয়া করহ বিচার ।
বিচার করিলে চিত্তে পাবে চমৎকার ॥

sri-krsna-chaitanya-daya karaha vichara
vichara karile chitte pabe chamatkara

"If you consider the mercy of Sri Krishna Chaitanya, you will be wonder-struck to realise it."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.15)

Eman dayal ke va achhe? You will not get here anyone else like Gurudev, like Nityananda Prabhu. Never.

Nityananda Prabhu left His house when He was 13 years old. He left His family and gave up everything for us—to rescue us. Gurudev too left his family to rescue us.

There is also another line in the song,

pasu pakhi jhure pasana vidare
suni yara guna-gatha

It means, thinking about Nityananda Prabhu, hearing about Him, birds and beasts (pasu, pakhi) all cry, stone (pasan) melts; but our heart is so hard—we do not get any result! Our heart is harder than a stone. We have got Gurudev's mercy but cannot understand it. If you hear Nityananda Prabhu's glorification, tears will come automatically, stone will be melted, but our heart is so hard—nothing happens, nothing changes in us, is it not so? We are worse than Jagai and Madhai...

prema vanyaya nadiya bhasaila
nindu-pasandi-gan dhaya palayiya

"He inundated Nadia with a flood of divine love and made all offenders and materialists run away."

Everyone was swimming in the prema-vanya, flood of love, flood of Mahaprabhu's prema, and all nindu (all those who criticise), all pasandi (all those whose heart is as hard as stone, who are cruel) ran away. Where did they run? To some other place, away from this area. But now such people have again come back, and we are surrounded by them. When Ramachandra was born in Ayodhya, everybody was rescued; when Mahaprabhu was born in Nabadwip, everybody was rescued, but now all those pasandis are coming again. It is the truth...

Receiving and Transmitting
'When your dust is removed, the magnet will immediately catch you, but when there is a lot of dust, the magnet will not work. You should listen to Hari-katha, Krishna-katha, and you must listen properly, with your mind, speech, and body.'

Sri-guru-charana-padma
'Sri Guru is an ocean of mercy and the friend of the fallen. He is the lord and life of all people. O master! Be merciful. Give me the shade of your feet. This fallen soul has taken shelter of you.'
শ্রীগুরুচরণ-পদ্ম

Sometimes some bondage, some problem may come in our spiritual life, but it is Krishna
testing us: how much love and affection do we have for our Guru, for the Lord?
