Devotion Comes from Devotion His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Three-four days ago two Muslim ladies came from Turkey, I gave initiation to them. They are now chanting and they are very happy; and they always like Tulasi. Always serve Tulasi—Tulasi should be served at every house. Wear Tulasi, pay dandavat to Tulasi, then your devotion will always be increasing. I am telling this to everybody: keep Tulasi in your house. Worship Tulasi—if you have no Deity, if you do not offer bhog at an altar, you can always bhog to Tulasi. I am telling this to everybody, and it is easy to get Tulasi leaves, to plant Tulasi in Singapore, so you must plant, you must serve Tulasi Devi, Tulasi Maharani. "Tulasi dekhi' judaya prana madhava-tosani jani': seeing Tulasi Devi soothes my soul, for I know she pleases Madhava." Those two Muslim ladies who came here always serve Tulasi, and they got inspiration from Tulasi Maharani. And one more thing I want to tell you is the clothes. You know, pants, shirts, etc. are for the office... When you join the army, you must wear the military uniform; when you join the police force, you must wear the police uniform—you must have a rifle, a gun, a pistol, etc. So, when you do devotional activities, Tulasi beads, a dhoti, the tilaks are necessary, then your mind will be fresh. Do you understand what I am saying? These are basic things. Think about it—why did Prabhupad and Bhaktivinod Thakur use all these things? If you get a police uniform today and put it on, you will think, "Oh, I am like a policeman now!" So, wear proper clothes during devotional practising time. It is necessary to wear a dhoti, a kurta, etc. then you will become habituated with this, and it will be very good. Next week I want to see all ladies wearing a sari and men wearing a dhoti and a kurta.
