Fertile Ground His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Krishna is always merciful, Gurudev is always merciful, he always tries to help us, engage us in service: loving search for the lost servant (প্রেমময় অন্বেষণ, premamaya anvesana). Gurudev always said, "In one way or another, some problem will come in your spiritual life, but do not forget and do not wait for the next life." I heard and I am thinking that the devotees are enthusiastic, they want to take initiation, bhakti-lata-bij, but I am waiting. Do you know what I am waiting for? You want to put the seed in your land, but that land must be fertile. I told you to wait for two more days you so that you try to make your land more fertile, otherwise if it is not fertile, you will put the seed and the seed will dry up. So, have more association, hear more Hari-katha, cultivate your land, your heart, more. It is heart cultivation. Do that and wait before taking initiation, it is not a problem. When your land is more fertile, when the land is good, you will take initiation and it will work immediately, otherwise if somebody does not know anything about Krishna consciousness and takes initiation, that bhakti-lata-bij, their seed, will die. You must practise every day. This is an instruction for everybody. Do not think that you just take initiation and you have already reached Vaikuntha, Goloka Vrindavan. It is impossible. I am giving you a seed, and you must take care of it. From time to time you must get good guidance, associate with great Vaishavs, get some good association. This kind of treatment is necessary. We must understand clearly what the Guru wants to say, what the main things are. If you only take initiation and do not practise, you will not get any result. You have got some previous sukriti, and you may practise for twenty-thirty years, but if you do not follow the rules and regulations and practise less and less every day, then you will fall down—your Krishna consciousness life will be finished. Somebody may practise for even thirty years, but if they stop practising, they will immediately fall down and return to their previous life—eating fish, meat, not following any rules and regulations. Why? It has to do not only with practising, there is also some offence—Vaishnav aparadh, seva aparadh, Nama aparadh, etc. There are so many things. Proper medicine is necessary. If there is some offence and you practise properly, that offence can be removed. Even a saranagata, a surrendered soul, can sometimes make some offence, but that offence is always removed. Srimad Bhagavad-gita said that if somebody is a devotee and unknowingly makes some offence, if they are fully engaged in service and continue their service, Krishna removes that offence—na karaya prayaschitta (না করায় প্রায়শ্চিত্ত, Cc, 2.22.138), no atonement is necessary then. So, engage in the devotional activities,
সাধুসঙ্গ, নামকীর্ত্তন, ভাগবতশ্রবণ ।
sadhu-sanga, nama-kirtana, bhagavata-sravana "One should associate with devotees, chant the Holy Name of the Lord, hear Srimad-Bhagavatam, reside at Mathura and worship the Deity with faith and veneration." Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila, 22.124 These are the main five practices, it is not much—it is not necessary to practise so many things. If you get even a little bit of association, it is enough to practise until your death. You must practise with sincerity and continuously, every day, then even when you are dying, you will not forget Krishna, you will not forget your Guru. If you practise this line sincerely, continuing your life steadily under the guidance of your Guru and until death, then it is not necessary for you to come back to this world in any kind of body—neither human, nor animal, bird or any other body—you will be rescued and you will be able to enjoy with the Lord!
