"When Lalita Devi finds a drop of perspiration at the feet of Sri Sri Radha-Govinda, she furiously engages herself to remove it. 'How has it come there? We are circumambulating Them to see that not the least pain can enter this domain to trouble Them, but how, without our notice, has this perspiration appeared? Perspiration, perspiration!' So she is furiously chastising herself and wants to immediately take birth one lakh (100,000) times—with that force she comes to remove that drop of perspiration from the lotus feet of either of the Divine Couple."

Sri Lalitastakam, 1, by Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu

We have come here today. This is Uchagaon, Guru Maharaj's [Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj's] dearmost place. When asked, he said, "My favourite place is Uchagaon." He also told me, "You are going for the Vrindavan parikrama—first go to Uchagaon, then you can enter Varshana." Near this place, to the north, there is Lalita Devi's kunda (pond) called Deha Kunda, we will go there and take some water on our heads.

Guru Maharaj explained that if you do not get the mercy of Lalita Devi, you cannot get the mercy of Srimati Radharani. He also said that if you do not get the visa to Vrindavan, you cannot enter it. Who gives that visa? Lalita Devi. Ultimately, Radharani gives entrance, but first, before you enter an airplane, you need a visa. So, if Lalita Devi does not give permission, it is impossible to enter that land. Lalita Devi controls everything. She controls Srimati Radharani also. If we do not get the mercy of this Lalita Devi we cannot get the mercy of Radharani.

You have come here in Uchagaon by a great fortune. Lalita Devi's village (Lalita Gram, or Uchagaon) is just a few kilometres from Varshana. Lalita Sakhi was born in this village, therefore this village is known as Lalita Gram (the village of Lalita). To the east of it, there is a temple of Sri Baladev jiu, to the north there is Deha Kunda. Srimati Radharani was born in Raval (we will go there later), but because of the atrocities of King Kamsa everybody—Nanda Maharaj, Raja Vrinsabhanu and others—came to this area, further away from Mathura.

Lalita Devi appeared in this village in the month of Bhadra (Sravan), on the seventh day of the bright moon. Her father's name is Vishok, her mother's name is Sarada, her husband's name is Bhairava. Her village is Lalita Gram, her mood is vama-prakhara, her complexion is of yellowish hue. She likes to wear the clothes of peacock feather color. Her service is tambul (supplying betel nut). Her kunja (Lalitananda) is the colour of lightning and situated in the north of Vrindavan, and in Nabadwip-lila her name is Svarup Damodar. Her age is fourteen years, three months and twelve days old, she is just a little older than Srimati Radharani. Her friends are Ratna-prabha, Rati-kala, Subhadra, Bhadra-rekhika, Sumukhi, Dhanistha, Kala-hamsi, Kalapini.

You have come to this Lalita Gram by a great fortune...

In fear of Kamsa, Nanda Maharaj came to Nandagram and Raja Vrisabhanu, a friend of Nanda Maharaj, came to Varshana. Varshana is one-two kilometres away from here, not so far. After this place we are going back to our car and then we will go directly to Varshana.

Jay Srimati Radharani ki jay. Srimati Lalita Devi ki jay. Jay Astha-sakhi-gan ki jay.

Krishna stayed in Nandagram and, when He grazed cows, He would come here with the cows. We have come here by a great fortune.

Through her service, Lalita Devi controls Radharani. When Radharani is sweating, when she sees one drop of sweat, she thinks, "Sweating! Her face may become dirty and Krishna may not like Her! I have to clean Her face, I have to remove that perspiration!" She is always ready to serve Radharani—whether some dust, some perspiration, etc. appears, she always want to freshen Radharani at once. She does not want to wait, "Oh, Krishna can come any time and He will see Her—what if He sees Her perspiration!" She is always ready to serve Srimati Radharani. Lalita Devi's mood is like this. She is always ready to supply whatever is necessary.

Lalita Devi also manages Radharani—she helps Her with wearing the sari, earrings, lipstick, etc. She always prepares Radharani, and if there is any problem, Lalita Devi is there preparing everything. She says, "I want to make myself into a hundred thousand of Lalitas for the service. I alone am not sufficient, a hundred thousand Lalitas are necessary."

You know that there are eight principal sakhis—Lalita, Vishakha, Champakalata, Chitra, Tungavidya, Indulekha, Rangadevi, Sudevi, and Anuradha. All manjaris (Rupa Manjari, Lavanga Manjari and others) are their assistants—they serve under the guidance of the sakhis. We are in that line, the line of Sri Rupa Manjali. This is Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur's line also—he said, "I am an unqualified servant of Lalita Devi." Lalita Devi is Rupa Manjari's line, Lavanga Manjari's line, and Rupa Goswami also said, "I have no qualification." We belong to this line.
