Happy Service Mood

When devotees practise properly, they are always joyful with Krishna consciousness, always feel very happy with their practising life, with sravan, kirtan. You are happy in your spiritual life, so I think that your practising life is going on properly and you give proper guidelines and teachings to the devotees, so by the mercy of Gurudev everything is going on properly, and your happy service mood makes me also happy.

In this life we have come to Krishna consciousness, we have taken shelter, but we have actually come to please our Guru, this is our goal. If we can please our Guru, that is our real happiness.

I always remember you, remember the devotees' happy mood. Physically you cannot see me there, but I am always with you—my mind, all my heart are always with you.

Question: Is there anything that you would like to advise us, any message?

Actually, I do not want anything from the devotees—the service that they do gives me a lot of satisfaction. Gurudev told me also, "If you want something, you will not get it, but if you do not want something, you will get more than that." So, I am not disturbing any devotees, I am not asking for anything. We must remove that asking desire—the desire to ask devotees for something—from our heart.

Krishna can do anything. You heard this song that we sing in Damodar month, Kartik month,

kuveratmajau baddha-murttyaiva yadvat
tvaya mochitau bhakti-bhajau krtau cha
tatha prema-bhaktim svakam me prayachchha
na mokse graho me 'sti damodareha

O Lord Damodara, just as the two sons of Kuvera (Manigriva and Nalakuvara) were delivered from the curse of Narada and made into great devotees by You in Your form as a baby tied with rope to a wooden grinding mortar, in the same way, please give to me Your own prema-bhakti. I only long for this and have no desire for any kind of liberation.

Two sons of Kuver were cursed by Narad and, although so rich, they got a tree body known as Yamalarjuna vriksa ('twin trees'). By the time it was Dvapar-yuga they had spent many thousands of years in those tree bodies, and when Krishna was a baby, He rescued them. It happened in Damodar month.

We enjoy so much with the material life, but Krishna is very merciful, Guru is very merciful, and they can rescue us from that kind of suffering. That is the only thing that we want, "Prabhu, we are enjoying with the illusory environment, but please give us only such mercy that we become rescued from this illusory environment, from this bondage! Please rescue us from all of that."

We are fallen souls, but Gurudev rescued us all and gave us his mercy, so we must keep and protect chastity to our Guru.

You go for preaching and from time to time make programmes, give nourishment to the devotees, and that is what I want from you—if you can lead the devotees, give them proper guidance, continuously, then that will be my happiness.

We must think that we can die, can leave any time, life is very short, so if we can practise properly at this very moment, that will be the real benefit for our spiritual life.

Do new people come sometimes?

—Yes, but not today. They come on weekdays.

Do they like listening to Krishna-katha?

—Yes, slowly, slowly.

Good. If you give them first a high dose, they will die. First give them a small dose: first karma-yoga, then jnana-yoga, then mukti-yoga, then bhakti-yoga. Karma-yoga means people work, they eat, sleep and enjoy; jnana-yoga is when they become wiser; then mukti-yoga, they become liberated; and when they are liberated, they can enter bhakti-yoga, devotional activities. Gurudev said, "Those who take initiation from me, are already liberated." So, in this way, slowly, slowly you can give them the medicine, starting from a small dose. In this way we can convert people into Krishna's devotees. This is what is necessary, and you are doing that. It is good.
