His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
24 June 2013

kabe ha'be bala se-dina amara
aparadha ghuchi' suddha name ruchi
krpa-bale ha'be hrdaye sanchara

"Please tell me, when will that day be mine when my offences will be dispelled and taste for the pure Name will be infused within my heart by divine grace?"

"When will my offences be removed from my heart? When will I be able to chant the pure Holy Name?"

Everybody chants the Holy Name—somebody says, "I chant three lakhs (300,000) Names," somebody says, "I chant one lakh (100,000) Names," but Jagadananda Pandit said,

“গোরার আমি, গোরার আমি” মুখে বলিলে নাহি চলে ।

গোরার আচার, গোরার বিচার লইলে ফল ফলে ॥

"gorara ami, gorara ami" mukhe balile nahi chale
gorara achara, gorara vichara la-ile phala phale

Just saying, "I am Gora's! I am Gora's!" does not do. Only when you follow Gora's practices and Gora's conception will you get the proper result.

Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 8.6

It means that I am putting on the tilak, I am putting on the kanthi mala and say, "Oh, I am a disciple of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj!", "I am a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj!" or, "I am the disciple of Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj!" but I do not follow their conception. I say "Gorar ami, I am a follower of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu," but I do not follow Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's conception: "
If you follow what Mahaprabhu told, you will get the result, otherwise how will you get it?

You think you have been practising for many years and you have no more patience—you cannot practise any more. How will you get any result like this? If you have some material desire in your heart, you will not get happiness in your spiritual life. To get happiness you must remove that desire from your heart.

Your duty is to please your Guru, to please the Lord. This is the main thing. It is not necessary to read many volumes of books, not necessary to study an ocean of scriptures—simple things are sufficient: জীবে দয়া, নামে রুচি, বৈষ্ণব সেবা, jive daya, Name ruchi, Vaishnava seva.

You are chanting the Holy Name yourself and you should engage others in chanting: you must tell others about it. It may give them some austerity to hear it and they may not want to hear it, but tell them again and again—try and try, again and again.

For many years they have been in the illusory environment and they are so deep in it—you cannot cut it at once, so you must tell it to others again and again: "Tava nija-jan kona mahajane pathaiya dile tumi: Prabhu, You have sent someone to me, and that person says, 'Ohe dina jan! You are a fallen soul, please listen to me! Listen to me, and you will be happy. Tomare tarite—Krishna Himself has come to rescue you!'"

It is very rare in this Age of Kali to get a pure sadhu, that is why Krishna Himself comes as a sadhu, or an acharya,

[ei kali-yuge] sadhu paoya kasta bada jivera janiya
sadhu-bhakta-rupe krsna aila nadiya

Understanding that [in this Kali-yuga] it is very difficult for a soul to find a sadhu, Krishna came to Nadia in the form of a pure devotee.

Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 7.8

Krishna Himself comes as a sadhu, as an acharya, or as a Guru and teaches us! We are such fortunate souls because in this Age of Kali we have got a human body and a bona fide Guru. If we just practise properly under his guidance, we can easily overcome this illusory environment and be able to see the chinmaya dham (চিন্ময় ধাম), the nirmal dham (নির্মল ধাম)!

How to See the Guru:
Chastity
The main quality of a sincere disciple in several examples: one-pointed attention, rejecting the unfavourable, intense attachment to service and devotees, faith, and careful choice of association.

Jaya 'guru-maharaja'
'The extraordinary beauty of your divine form shines with the exalted joy of benevolence, the brightness of divine sweetness.'

What Bhakti Vinod Thakur gave us, what Chaitanya Mahaprabhu gave us is exceptional,
inconceivable, and incomparable!

"HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS | HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS"
