Question: We can give only something that we have... How to be a proper recipient?

Through Hari-katha, through Krishna-katha, through good association. When your dust is removed, the magnet will immediately catch you; but when there is a lot of dust, the magnet will not work. You should listen to Hari-katha, Krishna-katha—and you must listen properly, with your mind, speech, and body.

Questions: What is the right way to preach to non-devotees?

You should tell them simple matters, simple things.

I remember when I went to Russia with Gurudev for the first time, there was a big meeting. I did some kirtan, spoke a little bit, and after that Gurudev came. One very educated boy, a mathematician asked Gurudev a question, "Why should we leave Jesus, leave our religion, and follow your Krishna?" I heard Gurudev's answer, and sometimes I also tell that. Gurudev asked him,

"Can you see Jesus?"

"No."

"Can you ever play football with Jesus?"

"No."

"But if you practise Krishna consciousness, if you follow the rules and regulations, then you can play football with Lord Krishna, you can take food with Him, you can play with Him."

"Is it true?"

"Yes, it is true."

"Then I will join."

"Yes, come and join."

The next day he shaved his head and beard and followed Krishna consciousness. Now he has become a good devotee and says, "Now my life is very happy."

It is not necessary to tell so many Bhagavatam slokas, not necessary to tell so many Prapanna-jivanamritam slokas, it is not necessary to be so well-versed in so many scriptures. Tell them simple things, little, little stories, tell it to them properly...

Question: You have to have so much affection towards every living being to be able to inspire people to do something great by just some words. This is very difficult...

You must give love and affection to everybody, but at the same time you have to also kill some mosquitoes. During his management time, Gurudev told me, "To be a manager is a very critical position—it is not necessary to bite, but sometimes you must show your hood."
