Peddling Misconception

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
20 February 2018, Kolkata, part 11

The other day, a boy went for rice collection with me and he said, "That mill's name is Radharani, but the owner does not want to give any rice!" I laughed. If a mill is called Radharani's Mill or Mahaprabhu's rice mill, it is for their business trademark—they use Mahaprabhu's name. They do business, they do not serve Mahaprabhu. So, when that boy said to me, "Oh, it is Radharani's mill, but he is not giving rice!" I replied, "That man does not think deep about it. He calls his mill Radharani to use Radharani's name for his business, not for service."

There are many houses and shops like that in Nabadwip also. For example, there is a mridanga shop that has Gurudev's picture, Narayan Maharaj's picture, and also Swami Maharaj Prabhupad's picture. They put many pictures in their shops because they know when devotees come and see it, they will think, "Oh, this must be their guru, so he is a disciple of Prabhupad!" or, "Maybe, he is a disciple of Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj!" Shopkeepers use Gurus' names for their trademark, they use the name of the Lord, they use the name of the Guru, but for their own interest. It makes me think of why Sanatan Goswami cried...

Why did Sanatan Goswami cry? Because Rupa Goswami had given so much austerity to Srimati Radharani. Rupa Goswami could not understand that Srimati Radharani had come and herself cooked the sweet rice. When She brought some rice, milk, and sugar to Rupa Goswami, Rupa Goswami said he did not know how to cook sweet rice, so Srimati Radharani offered, "I saw a few times how my mother cooks sweet rice, perhaps I can try to make it." She cooked a very nice sweet rice, and when Sanatan Goswami took that sweet rice, he got Krishna-prema. After that, he went to search where that girl was, which house She brought the ingredients from, but he could not find that girl, and then he understood who that girl was—he understood, "Radharani Herself has come and served us!" That is why he chastised Rupa Goswami very much, "You have done so much wrong! You have given so much austerity to Srimati Radharani! This is not good!" (When She was cooking, She burnt Herself; the fire was not so good, there was so much smoke and so much tears came from Her eyes!) That is why Sanatan Goswami cried...

We must do service. We must do service for our Gurudev, we must not use our Gurudev for our own interest. This is the main thing.

Here in Bengal, it is very difficult. If somebody dies or is born in a house, they do not even water Tulasi plant because they say it is asauch (অশৌচ; the place and people at the house where somebody is born or dies are considered impure). They do not water Tulasi, but they do give food to their children! This is a misconception. At this time they also do not go to the temple. They say, "Somebody has died in my house, we are not clean. That brahman told us not to come to the temple." That is the brahman culture. It is very bad. It is said in the scriptures also that asuras (demons) who kill cows, who kill or disturb demigods come as brahmans in this age of Kali (the fourth age after Satya, Treta, and Dvapar).

I told this in front of brahmans, holding Srimad Bhagavatam, quoting from there. They are very unhappy to hear it. What can I do? I have to say it. They come as brahmans, but they do not even know the brahma-gayatri; they do what they are doing for their own interest. Srimad Bhagavatam says what their character will be, it says everything, and we see that it is all true...

You can also see what the Puri pandas (priests) do. They beat devotees and forcefully take money from them. The temple of Saksi Gopal and other places are also like that. They are very cruel and greedy for devotees' money. There is so much problem... In Kali yuga, brahmans' character is always demoniac...

One time, somebody asked Gurudev (it happened in front of me), "There are so many monkeys disturbing in Vrindavan. Who were they in their previous life?" Gurudev said, "They were all babajis." Vrindavan sahajiya babajis always take money for their own business...

Family, Books,
Weeds, and Chanting
How to adjust with family members? How to bring them to Krishna consciousness? What to do if there is virtually no time to read books? How to get rid of the weeds growing in our heart? Does Gurudev accept our day-to-day material activities? What to think of while chanting the Holy Name?

so many enemies inside us.
