My Happiness

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Evening class at Nrisingha Palli
1 September 2018, part 5

We always ask the Deities for our own happiness—we always think about our own happiness and pray to the Lord for our own happiness. I just sang this song today,

সর্ব্বস্ব তোমার চরণে সঁপিয়া
পড়েছি তোমার ঘরে ।
তুমি ত' ঠাকুর, তোমার কুকুর
বলিয়া জানহ মোরে ॥

sarvasva tomara, charane sapiya,
padechhi tomara ghare
tumi ta' thakura, tomara kukura,
baliya janaha more

I have offered everything at Your feet and taken shelter in Your home. You are my Master; please consider me Your dog.

Saranagati, 19.1

"Sarvasva tomara, charane sapiya": I have given everything to you, to your lotus feet. "Padechhi tomara ghare": I am surrendering to you. It is necessary not only to say it, but you must show yourself whether you are surrendered or not. Only saying you are surrendered will not do, you must be surrendered. "Tumi ta' thakura, tomara kukura, baliya janaha more": Prabhu, you are the Thakur, you are the Deity, and I am just your dog.

তব নিজ-জন প্রসাদ সেবিয়া
উচ্ছিষ্ট রাখিবে যাহা ।
আমার ভোজন পরম-আনন্দে
প্রতিদিন হবে তাহা ॥

taba nija-jana prasada seviya
uchchhistha rakhibe yaha
amara bhojana parama-anande
pratidina habe taha

"Whatever remnants your devotees leave behind after honouring Your prasad, I will eat that every day in great ecstasy."

"Prasada seviya uchchhistha rakhibe yaha": we will be happy to take what Vaishnavs, Gurudev take.

This is what Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur is saying in this song. That is its meaning.

"How can I make Gurudev happy?" Always think about it. "I do not want my happiness—I want the happiness of my Guru." That is service.

তোমার সেবায় দুঃখ হয় যত,
সেও ত' পরম সুখ ।

tomara sevaya, duhkha haya yata,
seo ta' parama sukha

"All the distress I encounter in Your service is also my greatest happiness."

(Saranagati 16.4)

I will not think about my own trouble or well-being, whether I am sad or not, it is all my happiness—I may get pain, I may get some problem, but it is all my happiness, it is not a problem.

"Nijera posana, kabhu na bhaviba": I will never think about myself. "Nijera posana", what is good for me, what is bad, I do not know anything. I will never think about myself, I will stay with you only—I will only stay in the transcendental world, not in the material world. "Nijera posana, kabhu na bhaviba rahiba bhavera bhare."

It is a very nice song. If you think in this way, you will be very happy.

Rupa-siksa: Pure Devotion
'Pure devotion means you have no desire for anything without Krishna, and no other desires about Krishna also—you only always want devotion to Krishna. Why, when you practise Krishna consciousness, do you not get energy, do you not feel happiness?'

Sujanarvuda-radhita-pada-yugam
'He is the leader of the great souls who are endowed with devotion and the sole, greatly merciful shelter for the fallen. His inconceivable feet are the shelter of even the deceitful by deceiving them. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's lotus feet.'
সুজনার্ব্বুদরাধিতপাদযুগং

A full obeisance means the disciple tells to their Gurudev, 'I am giving
you a sword—you can cut my head, you can cut my legs, that is your matter
because I cannot see anything, I am surrendering my everything to you.'
