Mahaprabhu told Nityananda Prabhu, "Nityananda, preach Krishna consciousness, Krishna-latha," but when Nityananda Prabhu preached in Gauda-mandal, Bengal, He would preach,

ভজ গৌরাঙ্গ, কহ গৌরাঙ্গ, লহ গৌরাঙ্গের নাম রে
যে জন গৌরাঙ্গ ভজে, সেই আমার প্রাণ রে

bhaja gauranga, kaha gauranga, laha gaurangera nama re
ye jana gauranga bhaje, sei amara prana re

"Worship Gauranga! Say Gauranga! Take Gauranga's Name! Those who worship Gauranga are My heart and soul!"

It does not mean that Nityananda Prabhu did not follow Mahaprabhu. He did. Krishna and Gaura are non-different—Gauranga Mahaprabhu is Radha-Krishna's combined form.

Our Param Gurudev Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj also came here to ask Nityananda Prabhu for His mercy, but Nityananda Prabhu told him, "You have already got the mercy of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, who is the dearmost of Srimati Radharani. That mercy already exists with you, so first you must distribute that mercy, then ask Me for mercy." Having got this message from Nityananda Prabhu, Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj started to take disciples.

Before Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj made Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math he had got full power from Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Just before passing away, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur wanted to hear the kirtan, "Sri Rupa manjari pada" from his mouth. In this way we understand that Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj had got that mercy—he was empowered to protect and distribute Sri Rupa-Raghunath line.

Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu actually gave blessed Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu so much—He gave Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu transcendental power. And Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu, in turn, gave that power to Srila Raghunath Das Goswami Prabhu. Srila Raghunath Das Goswami Prabhu had been trying so hard to get free from maya, from the material world but he had not been able to until he had got the mercy of Nityananda Prabhu. When Sriman Nityananda Prabhu engaged him in service to Vaishnavs [in Panihati], Nityananda Prabhu gave so much mercy to Raghunath Das Goswami—when Raghunath Das Goswami paid his obeisance to Nityananda Prabhu, Nityananda Prabhu put His legs on his head. Raghunath Das Goswami had got that kind of mercy. Tha time Nityananda Prabhu told him, "Now you can go to Mahaprabhu. He will engage you in service." When Raghunath Das Goswami came to Puri, Mahaprabhu engaged him in the service of Svarup Damodar and said, "From today your name will be Svaruper Raghu." There are many Raghunaths, but He gave him the name Raghu of Svarup.

After that, Raghunath Das Goswami had stayed in Puri for many years. He was a very renounced person, he had too much Vaishnavata (qualities of a Vaishanva)—humility, tolerance and giving honour to others. Even if he saw one Vaishnav five times a day, he would pay dandavat to them five times a day. That was his quality. When both Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Svarup Damodar finished their pastimes, Raghunath Das Goswami was very sad and went to Vrindavan.

Our Param Gurudev was also very sad when Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur left his body—he also went to Vrindavan and stayed in Nanda-gram near Pavan-sarovar. You know that place—every time we go to Vrindavan, we visit it. It is the place of Sanatan Goswami's bhajan kutir. In Krishna-lila, the name of Visakha's father is Pavan, so the kunda (pond) that he had made is called 'Pavan Sarovar'. When Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj was staying there, he heard a message from the sky, "What are you staying here for? Everything is in Nabadwip. I have left you here so that you can preach Rupa-Raghunath's katha, the message of Sri Rupa-Raghunath, the message of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, but you are staying here!" Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj immediately came back to Nabadwip, and you know that in 1941 he made Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math in a thatched house.

As I have said, Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj also came here in Sri Ekachakra Dham, before he started taking disciples, and every year he would send some small donation for the service of Nityananda Prabhu.
