Sri Madhyadwip His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We will start the first day of the parikrama from Godrumdwip, that is good. That day is ekadasi, we will do a short parikrama of Godrumdwip, come back and have anukalpa here [in the temple at Nrisingha Palli]. Actually, there is one more dwip (island) nearby where we never go—it is Madhyadwip. Before, when we stayed at Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Kolerganj, we also did not go there, and this year we are thinking to go there. This island is included in our calendar (panjika), but we do not go there... It is near here. When Mahaprabhu went to that island, He was chanting the Holy Name on the bank of a lake when a crocodile came out of the water. It was actually not a crocodile—it was a demigod child who made a Vaishnav aparadha and was cursed by Durvasa Muni. One day, when Durvasa Muni was resting, the child cut his sikha and when Durvasa Muni woke up, he got angry, "What have you done! I curse you! You will live in a crocodile's body for four ages—Satya, Treta, Dvapara and Kali." The boy began to cry so much and asked Durvasa Muni to please forgive his offence, and in the end Durvasa Muni said, "All right, I can forgive your offence, but what has come out of my mouth will happen—you will still have to be born as a crocodile—but I can give you a solution. You will stay in Nabadwip Dham in the water of a lake, and when Mahaprabhu comes to that place with devotees an will chant there the maha-mantra, you will hear it and get your previous body of a demigod." So, in Mahaprabhu's time, that boy came out of the water of the lake and grasped Mahaprabhu's legs saying, "Prabhu, You are that person Durvasa Muni had told me about! He said Krishna would appear in the age of Kali and through His chanting of the Holy Name I will get my previous body!" Mahaprabhu performed so many pastimes is Nabadwip Dham... Gaura Hari...
