(3/6) Wasted Love His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
কিসের সংসার এই, ছায়াবাজী প্রায় ।
kisera samsara ei chhayabaji praya "What sort of world is this? It is only a trick, a show. While I affectionately take it as my own, days pass by in vain." (Sri Kalyan-kalpataru, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur) We have so much affection to this material world, to our material family, but the days are passing in vain! We love our sons, daughters, grandsons and granddaughters very much (we take them as our very own), but you will have to leave everyone and go away from this world. Why are you wasting your love?

'asakti-rahita,' 'sambandha-sahita,' "When you are free from material attachment and establish relationship with the Lord, then you will see that everything around you is Lord Madhav Himself." (Vaishnav ke?, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupad) Remember this. You must have no material attachment. All attachment must be only to the service of the Lord. However, we are doing just the opposite—we become attached to all these big buildings, grand rooms and so on. We attach ourselves to wrong things! "While I affectionately take it as my own, days pass by in vain." Days and nights are passing. You are saying that your age is increasing, but this is not so—your age is only decreasing every day, every second. I also sometimes think that it was just now 2000, but as I spoke and spoke and spoke, I see it is suddenly 2022 already! I cannot even understand how these twenty years have passed. Our days are passing in vain. Even when you live with your family, you can still practise spiritual life—you can serve the Lord even living with your family. You can see some devotees sitting in front of me—they all live in families, but the difference is that they live in the family of the Lord. Gurudev is also a member of the Lord's family, and he comes to call us all to come to that family: come, become a member of this family! You have been changing so many bodies life after life, you have heard about crossing 8,400,000 species of life. We cannot even imagine how many times we have been born as humans. Having wandered throughout 8,400,000 species, we have finally got this human birth. How many families we have had throughout all those species? We were born in pigs' family, cats' family, dogs' family, monkeys' family, shrimps' family, herrings' family, cows' family, buffalos' family, goats' family and so on. If you give a pig some nicely cooked paneer, it would be unhappy, "What is this? It is awful! It is not even edible!" but if you give it a bucket of stool, the pig will be very happy, "Oh, how nice this is!" We spent so many lives eating all this. Even Lord Indra (the king of heaven!) had to be born as a pig one time. It is said in Srimad Bhagavatam and Srimad Bhagavad-gita also that if you do good things (punya), you will go to heaven, but even if you come to heaven, you will have to come back. Those who do good come to heaven, and just as we have a prime minister and other ministers in this country, there are also some ministers in heaven. For example, Laksmi Devi is the minister of food, Saraswati Devi is the minister of education. It is Saraswati puja tomorrow, by the way. We do not call this day 'Saraswati-puja', we say it is panchami-tithi, which is the appearance day (avirbhav) of Sri Vishnupriya Devi. People say:
om sarasvati mahabhage vidye kamalalochane "O great Goddess Saraswati, the personified knowledge possessing large lotus eyes! I offer obeisance to you, please give me knowledge." "Give me knowledge!" They give Saraswati a bribe (some rice, banana, some flowers) and in lieu of that ask her for knowledge.
কৃষ্ণভক্ত—নিষ্কাম, অতএব 'শান্ত' ।
krsna-bhakta—niskama, ataeva 'santa' "Devotees of Krishna have no desires, that is why they are 'peaceful', and those who crave enjoyment, liberation or some perfections are all 'unpeaceful'." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.19.149) Devotees of Krishna have no desires. Until and unless you become free from desires, your heart will never become peaceful—it will always be restless, "I want this", "I want that." Your mind will always be restless and agitated—it will not become fixed.
