His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad

I have told you just now that for devotees, service (seva) is the vow (vrata), service is the rule (niyom). Service to the Lord is the highest meaning in life for every jiva soul. Without this service, life is nothing.

You know that there are different kinds of love for Krishna: santa-rasa, dasya-rasa, sakhya-rasa, vatsalya-rasa and madhura-rasa. You will never find these kinds of devotion anywhere else – for example, you will not find the devotion of Nanda Maharaj in Rama-lila or any other pastimes. I have written about it in detail in Guidance 4, you can read about it there.

In the Search of Original Source, Gurudev writes that sabda-brahman (transcendental sound, the Hare Krishna maha-mantra) travels through ether. For example, you can use a mobile phone to talk to people from other countries, from very faraway places. You also can watch TV and see the news from other countries. All these things come through the sound. Those who study science know the potency of the sound. If all these things can come through the sound, why is it not possible to connect with the transcendental world (Goloka Vrindavan) through sound? This is the explanation Gurudev gave.

There is another example also. For example, I am staying here now. If I ask somebody how to get to some place, a driver who know the roads can say, 'Go this way' and I will find the place that I need. So, Gurudev tells us, 'Let us go!' and if we take the road that Gurudev points at, I can reach my destination.

Gurudev says:

Try to get a connection with the transcendental abode through Hari-nam, the Lord's Name. Practise your spiritual life and see the result. It is not dead matter. You will eat and others then will be fulfilled? It is not a fact. When you eat you will feel, 'My belly is becoming full, my mind is becoming satisfied, and my hunger is going away.' These feelings naturally will come to you.

Consorthood, paramour love, so many things are there that here sometimes give us so much pain. There they give only happiness. There is no place for pain there—only when the Play of the Lord necessitates it some deficiency may come, but that is only existing within the Play. There, you can come to a pawpaw tree and ask it, 'Give me a banana' and it will give you a banana! You can come to a mango tree and ask it for a bel fruit, and it will give it to you. Such the transcendental abode of the Lord.

sriyah kantah kantah parama-purusah kalpa-taravo
druma bhumis chintamani-gana-mayi toyam amrtam
katha ganam natyam gamanam api vamsi priya-sakhi
chid anandam jyotih param api tad asvadyam api cha

"That place where the divine Goddesses of Fortune are the beloved, and Krishna, the Supreme Male, is the only lover; all the trees are divine wish-fulfilling trees; the soil is made of transcendental gems and the water is nectar; where every word is a song, every movement is dancing, the flute is the dearmost companion, sunlight and moonlight are divine ecstasy, and all that be is divine and enjoyable."

There all the girls are beautiful like Laksmi Devi; all beauty and wealth is in them in a very concentrated form. Krishna's form is so beautiful, and He is the enjoyer of those girls—kantah Parama-purusah. All the trees there are kalpa-taravo, wish-fulfilling trees. If you want anything from a tree, he can give it to you....

That knowledge will be revealed in our hearts if we will try to search, try to proceed. If we sincerely try to get that, we can. This is the gift of Sriman Mahaprabhu. What is His gift?

harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam
kalau nasty eva nasty eva nasty eva gatir anyatha

It is not necessary to collect an ocean of knowledge from the scriptures. The only necessity is your chastity and faith in the divine Name of the Lord. Why? Some reasons have been given that we can easily understand. In this world, so many scientists have invented many things. How are we getting email, telephone, and television? Through sound. In this material world it is possible, so why is it not possible to connect with the transcendental world through sound? It can come down into this material world. We can see that ray, and through that ray we can go there. Here we are getting connection everywhere through ether. If we can go a little further, we can connect with the transcendental divine form of the Lord, which is His Name. If it is transcendental, if it is divine, it must have the full power to give us this knowledge, and that Name can enter anywhere. The telephone calls are coming here without a problem; why can't that transcendental knowledge come into my heart? Why can't that transcendental knowledge live there? We must believe it. Try to research and try to understand which way it is possible. Mahaprabhu Chaitanyadev said the transcendental vibration form of our Lord is Hari-nam. It will be revealed in your heart.

cheto-darpana-marjanam bhava-mahadavagni-nirvapanam
sreyah-kairava-chandrika-vitaranam vidya-vadhu-jivanam
anandambudhi-vardhanam prati-padam purnamrtasvadanam
sarvatma-snapanam param vijayate sri-krsna-sankirtanam

'Sri Krishna-sankirtan cleanses the mirror of consciousness, extinguishes the raging forest fire of material existence, shines moonlight on the evening lotus of good fortune, is the life of the divine knowledge—the life of souls enlightened with paramour love for the Lord, expands the ocean of ecstasy, is the taste of full nectar at every moment, and soothes the entire self. May Sri Krishna-sankirtan be supremely victorious!'
