Devotees: Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj ki jay!

I am very happy to see you all today. I have given so many lectures today since the morning. I started from Canada—there are not many devotees there, a few disciples of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaj, of Gurudev, and some of my disciples also. I talked with them all very nicely. After that, I spoke to the devotees in Italy, then Delhi, then Ecuador, and now, late in the evening, I am finally speaking to you all in Salt Lake City. I am very happy with this, and I want to continue in this way.

Param Guru Maharaj, Srila B.R. Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj says (and you must understand and remember this) that if you have some money, if you have some property or wealth and you do not use it for the Lord, for the Guru's service, for the Deity, then it will turn into vitta-dosh. Vitta (বিত্ত) means wealth, and vitta-dosh (বিত্তদোষ) means that property, that wealth will disturb you later—it may happen this life, it may also happen in your next life, it may even happen after some generations.

In the same way, if you have some knowledge you must preach as much as possible: you must distribute that knowledge as much as you have capacity. If you do not distribute the knowledge you have, that knowledge will disturb you later. You are chanting the Holy Name and you must engage others in chanting the Holy Name; you are serving your Guru, Vaishnavs, the Deity and you must engage others to serve the Deity and Vaishnavs. Otherwise if you not donate the knowledge that you have, that knowledge will create a problem for you.

If you have some money, you have some property, wealth and you do not use that money for the service to your Guru and Vaishnavs, that money will make problem for you later. For example, if somebody gives you some donation, and you keep it for yourself, for your own benefit, that money will create a problem later. This is what Gurudev teaches us. When money comes to you for the service to the temple, you must use that money for the service to the temple, otherwise that money will make disturbance, will make a problem for you. If you have knowledge, if you have capacity for preaching, you must use that capacity for preaching.

If you think, "I am a great Vaishnav," but you are sitting in some solitary place, this is not our line. You heard that when there were many problems at the temple, Srila Sridhar Maharaj left the temple to sit alone in Vrindavan, but Prabhupad Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur himself chastised him in a dream. He said to him, "I have not made you a sannyasi so that you could sit here in Vrindavan! This is not your job." Even Mahaprabhu chastised Sanatan Goswami. Once, Sanatan Goswami wanted to commit suicide thinking, "What is my body for? It is useless..." but Mahaprabhu chastised him, "This is not your body! You cannot use this body for your own purpose, you cannot do what you mind is telling you. Your body is My body, and I will use that body for preaching, for My purpose—you cannot use this body, it is not yours!"

দীক্ষাকালে ভক্ত করে আত্মসমর্পণ ।
সেইকালে কৃষ্ণ তারে করে আত্মসম ॥

diksa-kale bhakta kare atma-samarpana
sei-kale krsna tare kare atma-sama

"At the time of initiation, when a devotee fully surrenders unto the service of the Lord, Krishna accepts them as His very own."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Antya-lila, 4.192)

When you surrender to the Lord, Krishna Himself thinks, "This body is My heart, it is My very own property." That is why we cannot follow what comes to our minds—we must follow Gurudev's instruction.

Odds and Ends
'It does not look good for a saffron-clad brahmachari to go to a restaurant and take food there. Sitting there, gossiping and talking, is very ugly. They must be a little shy, they must think a little what they are doing.'

Namo namah tulasi maharani
'Siva, Sukadev, Narad, Brahma, the other demigods, and the great learned sages all circumambulate you, O Tulasi.'

You have got some sukriti, that is all right, but every day
you must earn more through your service.
