Devotion: It Is About Mood

Gurudev went country to country in his old age—until his death he went village to village, area to area for preaching. That is what is necessary for our life. "Prana achhe yara, sei hetu prachara (প্রাণ আছে যার সেই হেতু প্রচার): as long as you have life in the body, you must preach." Devotion is not easy:

কৃষ্ণ যদি ছুটে ভক্তে ভুক্তি মুক্তি দিয়া ।
কভু ভক্তি না দেন রাখেন লুকাইয়া ॥

krsna yadi chhute bhakte bhukti mukti diya
kabhu prema-bhakti na dena rakhena lukaiya

"If you ask Krishna for anything except devotion, He can give you those things—bhukti, mukti, liberation, and so on—but He will hide devotion from you. You will not get devotion."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.18)

If you worship Krishna and ask for something instead of devotion (for some material enjoyment, to satisfy your material desire), Krishna will give that to you, He will make you happy, but He will not give you devotion—He will hide devotion from you. That is why it is necessary to have service mood. Service mood, or bhajan, means acting under the guidance of your Gurudev—you must follow what Gurudev says. It is not necessary to think about anything else. "I do not know what will be good for me, I will follow what Gurudev says"—that is called service. If you think, "I know more than everybody," that is ego and that is a problem.

Keep the proper mood. If you think about Krishna, Krishna will think about you-if you think about Jagannath, Jagannath will think about you. You must understand this.

Continue your service in this way, keep your service mood in this way, then one day you will be successful. Do not worry about anything, do not worry whether you are successful or not, it is not necessary to worry about anything—only fulfil Gurudev's desire and you will reach your goal, Krishna will be happy.

Gurudev is doing his job through you, through the devotees. For as long as he wants to preach, we must do that service, together. Gurudev preached all over the world and now we must unitedly preach about his Chaitanya Saraswat Math. Those who cannot do that will go to their own place, to hell, and those who can do that will go to Gurudev's place.
