Captured By Heart, Not Kartals

We must practise. Krishna Himself comes as Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for practising, and actually He practises Himself.

Our line is Guru, Vaishnav, Bhagavan—first is Guru, not Bhagavan. So, first we must do Guru vandana (worship the Guru), then Vaishnav vandana (worship great Vaishnavs). Vaishnavs always keep Krishna in their hearts, and we always follow them. When we sing Vaishnavs' songs, we pray to Vaishnav Thakur, "Please, give me Krishna-bhakti (devotion to Lord Krishna)!"

Actually, I have come here not to chant myself—I have come to hear you chant, I have come to engage you in chanting. You can simply clap your hands and chant.

When Mahaprabhu went to Benares, Kashi, He chanted and danced there. Later, somebody asked Mahaprabhu about mayavadi sannyasis, "Why do they not chant?" and Mahaprabhu said that they did not chant because they were offenders of the Name of Krishna. I do not think that you are offenders of the Name of Krishna, so I have come here to chant with you all.

If I chant, I will be getting benefit—if I take medicine, I will be cured. If you want to be cured, you have to take the medicine yourself. You must chant yourself, and I have come here to engage you in chanting. When you go to Goloka Vrindavan, there will be no kartals, no mridanga there, only clapping your hands and chanting.

Through Her service, through Her chanting, Radharani captured the heart of Krishna. You know that Radharani did not study at Cambridge or Oxford University—simply through service, through chanting, She captured everything.

রাধা-ভজনে যদি মতি নাহি ভেলা ।
কৃষ্ণ-ভজন তব অকারণ গেলা ॥

radha-bhajane yadi mati nahi bhela
krsna-bhajana tava akarana gela

"If you do not worship Srimati Radharani, your worship of Krishna is nothing."

If you do not worship Radharani, you cannot worship Krishna—your worship will be nothing, useless. "Nitaiyer karuna habe Vraje Radha Krsna pabe (নিতাইয়ের করুণা হবে ব্রজে রাধাকৃষ্ণ পাবে): when Nitai bestows His mercy, you will reach Radha-Krsna in Vraja." Nityananda Prabhu is Guru-tattva, so if you do not worship the Guru, your worship of Krishna is useless.
