I am very happy to see your faces and see that everybody is happy there, so many devotees are there today. Good. It is very nice to see you all. I hope that you are practising properly and continuing your spiritual life.

Actually Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur said that you must first learn to hear from your Guru—of all your senses (indriya) you must first activate not your eyes, but your ears...

That is why I am happy to hear that you are serving the Mission with so much enthusiasm, so gladly and happily, that you also take association of the devotees, that you keep connection with the devotees, and that it is giving a great pleasure to you all. When you invited me I sent Sripad Tyagi Maharaj there for preaching because right now I cannot go out of India. I have so much hope that he can give proper nourishment to you all.

At the same time, you know that sometimes by the illusory environment (illusory environment is very powerful) we can be taken out, removed from our service. That is why it is necessary to get good association from time to time—that is why you must be always careful, must always practise, always remember, always engage in sravanam, kirtanam. It is necessary.

Even in Srimad Bhagavad-gita (chapter 12), when Krishna told Arjuna about bhakti-yoga, He said, "If you cannot settle your mind with full chastity, with full faith in Me, then practise constantly and gradually you will be able to practise, it will become your habit. If you cannot practise, then you can do some karma but relate it with Me." Krishna engages us in the service of the Lord in so many ways.

What can our Guru-varga, what can Gurudev do? We are actually lost servants, and Gurudev, great Vaishnavs can only tell us that we have lost our home and they can tell us, "Go in this way and you can find your real home there." They can only give us some connection with our Lord, other than that we have to do everything ourselves—we have to proceed on, we have to move forward, practise, etc. Guru's only duty is to make connection with the Lord, after that his duty is finished and we must do everything ourselves.
