কৃষ্ণ যদি ছুটে ভক্তে ভুক্তি মুক্তি দিয়া ।
কভু ভক্তি না দেন রাখেন লুকাইয়া ॥

krsna yadi chhute bhakte bhukti mukti diya
kabhu prema-bhakti na dena rakhena lukaiya

Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.18

"If you are doing some service and want remuneration for that (some money, wealth, a car, a house, etc.), you will get it, but you will not get bhakti."

We do not know how many days we will be alive in this world, but we have at last got a human body and we must use this body for the service to the Lord. If you cannot use this body for the service to the Lord, it is useless then. I have told it a million times. If you use this body for the service to the Lord, you will always be ananda vigraha (আনন্দ-বিগ্রহ, embodiment of happiness).

If you keep digging in the drain, you will always get a bad smell—the stool will come. How many days are you going to drink urine and eat stool? (These are Gurudev's words. I did not bring these words from the heaven. I am only taking the remnants of what Gurudev has chewed and giving it to you.)

Once there was a saffron-clad devotee who did so much energetic service. From the beginning, my service has always been giving orders, whipping, "Do this, do that," but that brahmachari did service with his own hands, so I thought he was better than me, but now his position has gone down. Why? Because of maya, illusory environment—he wanted to eat stool and drink urine...

I am using very heavy language today. It is an example for everybody, not only that person.

When Mahaprabhu was teaching Chhota Haridas, it was not only for Chhota Haridas. Jagadananda Pandit said, "If you want to have love and affection for Mahaprabhu, you must remember Chhota Haridas." It is easy to say, but hard to do.

It comes from sukriti. Ajnata sukriti, then jnata sukriti. If sukriti increases more and more, everyone can become very big. And you should not lose it—through your service you must get more sukriti every day. You must earn money every day, and money means sukriti. You must keep some capital. If you lose your capital every day, you will eventually have a zero balance, and the next day it will be -1, then -2—then it will be lost for your life. You have got some sukriti, that is all right, but every day you must earn more through your service.

Bhagavan Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur said, "I am giving you now some advice, but you cannot understand it. When I am no more not in this world, then you will remember it." You can see that his words are very strong...

* 'Saltamami' (সালতামামি) is a word used by Srila B.S. Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj: "Saltamami means to calculate the debit and the credit for the whole year. It is necessary to keep our life's saltamami—to keep account of what I am doing from morning to evening, and it is necessary to realise, 'How much good and how much bad is there in the day that has passed?' If we can do saltamami, then we will be more perfect."

Preaching Guidance: Angry, Passive, and Challenging
How to preach to angry people? Is it enough for people to just hear the Name of Krishna and get benefit through that? How to answer those who challenge referring to what others do?

'My master, Prabhupad Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, established the religion of the age, Krishna-sankirtan, and is the chief minister of the universal assembly of leading Vaisnavas. His lotus feet are worshipped by millions of virtuous souls and fulfil the desires of those who dispel souls' fears. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's worshippable feet.'

We do not know where we will be posted next life, so service is our life.
