Wake up! His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
jive daya name ruchi vaisnava seva "Be merciful to the souls, chant the Holy Name, and serve the Vaishnavs. Sanatan, besides this, there is no other religion." Mahaprabhu told Sanatan Goswami, "জীবে দয়া, নামে রুচি, বৈষ্ণব সেবা, jive daya, Name ruchi, Vaishnava seva: you must give benefit to the jiva souls." We are conditioned souls, but Krishna is very merciful, Gurudev is very merciful—they come here to take us to our real home. We have lost our home and the Lord sends His associate in the form of the Guru to take us back to our home.
tava nija-jana kona mahajane O Lord! I am very wicked-minded and have fallen into this material world, but You have sent a great soul, Your associate (to rescue me).
daya kari more patita dekhiya Seeing me so fallen and being merciful, he came to me and said, "O humble soul, listen to this wonderful message and your heart will rejoice.
tomare tarite sri-krsna-chaitanya "Sri Krishna Chaitanya has appeared in Nabadwip to deliver you." (Saranagati, 19)
kabe habe bala se dina amara "Please tell me, when will that day be mine? When will my offences be removed? When will the taste for the pure Name arise in my heart by the power of mercy?" ('Kabe habe bolo, se dina amar?' by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur) "When will my offences go away from my heart? When will my material desires, my sinful desires be removed from my heart? I am waiting for that day..." In this age of Kali, Krishna has appeared in this world in the form of the Name and He comes to distribute His name door to door, but only the fortunates souls can receive that Holy Name:
ব্রহ্মাণ্ড ভ্রমিতে কোন ভাগ্যবান্ জীব ।
brahmanda bhramite kona bhagyavan jiva "Having travelled throughout the universe and got the mercy of Guru, Krishna, a fortunate soul receives a seed of the devotional creeper." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila, 19.151) We are coming and going, coming and going, but fortunately we have got a human body. It is very rare to get a human body, but by some great fortune we have got it, if however I do not use this body to serve the Guru and the Lord, my life is then useless...
dina yaya michha kaje nisa nidra-base "My days are passed in useless work and nights are wasted on sleeping. It never occurs to me that there is death sitting next to me." ('Durlabha manava janma labhiya' by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur) We can leave our body at any time! Pariksit Maharaj was very fortunate—he got a seven-day notice that he had to leave his body; but we will not know even seven minutes before that we have to leave. And still, we do not chant the Name of Krishna...
vaisnava sangete mana anandita anuksana "In the association of Vaishnavs, my mind is always joyful—in their association I always get the association of Krishna." ('Thakura Vaishnava pada' by Srila Narottam Das Thakur) "If you get good association, you will get the association of Lord Krishna." You must associate with the pure devotee, follow the pure line, the pure conception...
“গোরার আমি, গোরার আমি” মুখে বলিলে নাহি চলে ।
"gorara ami, gorara ami" mukhe balile nahi chale Just saying, "I am Gora's! I am Gora's!" does not do. Only when you follow Gora's practices and Gora's conception will you get the proper result. (Sri Sri Prema-vivarta, 8.6) We say we are devotees of Mahaprabhu, but we do not follow His conception, we do not follow His teachings... "লোক দেখান গোরা ভজা তিলক মাত্র ধরি, loka dekhana gora bhaja tilaka matra" (Pv, 8.7): we show we are devotees by wearing tilak, but we do not follow the devotees' activities, we do not practise the devotional conception...
