Wholesome Transformation

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Nabadwip Dham, 9 March 2015

In this way we are to continue our spiritual life:

If somebody has no manpower, or stays alone in the house, they can sing songs with kartals. It takes only 20-25 minutes to sing five songs—Sri Guru charana-padma, a Pancha-tattva song, Vaishnav Thakur, Nityananda's kirtan, Mahaprabhu's kirtan, and mahamantra. When you chant on your beads, that is another thing—when chanting on the beads so many things can come to your mind, "Oh, where will get money tomorrow? Oh, my wife said this and this to me!" but when you are singing so many things will not come to your mind at that time. So, you can practise in this way. Sing five songs in the morning and five songs in the evening. Can you not find 40 minutes?

Practise Krishna consciousness in this way and you will see how much your spiritual life will increase and you will not get any taste for the outside world—the feeling will come to you, "I do not want to go outside. It is very difficult for me. When service comes I have to go, otherwise I do not want to go—I do not want to leave the temple. My mind, my heart do not want to go outside the temple, but what can I do? For preaching, for service to the Lord I have to go outside, but I do not like that outside world any more, I cannot tolerate it." What to do? We have to tolerate so many things when we go out.

In this way, such situation should come to you. You must give your energy to the Lord, to Krishna consciousness—if you use your energy for another purpose, then you will not get energy for chanting the Holy Name, for service to Krishna. When some material things come to your mind, you must remove them immediately because if you give food to your mind, your mind will become strong and it can take you away from the service. Do you understand? You have no enemy in this world—your mind is your only enemy. Remember it.

Jihva, the tongue, always throws us into visaya sagar, the ocean of material things, but Krishna is very kind, Krishna is very merciful—He has given us His mahaprasad. If we take that mahaprasad, our senses will be controlled and these kinds of bad elements can be removed from our heart—our tongue will be clean and we can start chanting properly.

Now we are full of rust. Magnet cannot attract rusty iron because of the thick layer of rust. You must remove that rust, then Krishna can attract us. That is why we need some good association,

'সাধুসঙ্গ', 'সাধুসঙ্গ'—সর্ব্বশাস্ত্রে কয় ।
লবমাত্র সাধুসঙ্গে সর্ব্বসিদ্ধি হয় ॥

'sadhu-sanga', 'sadhu-sanga'—sarva-sastre kaya
lavamatra sadhu-sange sarva-siddhi haya

Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila, 22.54

Through the good association you can be successful. Good association is the main thing. If you do not get good association, proper association, do not get proper Hari-katha, proper Krishna-katha, you will not get benefit.

You must use yourself for the service to the Lord: you have got a mouth to speak about Him, to take His Holy Name, you got eyes to see His Deity form, ears to hear about Him, to hear His Holy Name, you have got hands to serve in His Dham, to clean His temple—you have got all this for Him, but we are engaging it for another purpose... When our life becomes Krishna-centred, when the Lord is in the centre of it and we do everything for Him, then our home becomes Krishna mandir (a temple of Krishna). Cook for the Lord, offer it to Him, and take that prasad. Do in this way. Use everything for the service to the Lord—whatever you need for the service to the Lord, use that.

Love for Guru:
Service and Commitment
'We are always busy with our own interest, with our own enjoyment, but we must understand: who do we love more, our Guru or ourselves? We must realise it for ourselves in our heart. If we love our Guru more, then we must serve more—we must give more time for our Guru.'

Samsara-davanala
'One who very carefully recites aloud this Sri Gurvastakam during the brahma-muhurta (the ninety-six minute period before sunrise) attains direct service to the Lord of Vrindavan at the end of life.'

If we chant the Holy Name with our mouth, bad words and criticism of Vaishnavs
cannot come to our mouth.
