Clear Aim In Life

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Nabadwip Dham,
29 March 2016

Somebody says, "They do not give 'jay' to my Guru, so I will not accept their association!" You can do what you like, but why is it necessary to tell me about this? I am actually like this too—if there is no glorification of my Guru going on at some place, I will not go there; but it is not necessary to tell others about it or declare it publicly. Sometimes people make problem—somebody is producing good milk, but another person wants to put there some drops of urine...

Tad-viddhi pranipatena (তদ্বিদ্ধি প্রণিপাতেন): full surrender. Pariprasnena (পরিপ্রশ্নেন), honest enquiry: "Who am I (কে আমি, ke ami)? Why am I suffering (কেনে আমায় জারে তাপত্রয়, kene jare tapa-traya)? How can I get relief from this suffering and austerity? (কিসে হিত, kise hita)? What is the eternal goal (সাধন বস্তু কি, sadhya vastu ki)? What should I do to attain that goal?" And sevaya (সেবয়া): it is necessary to do service.

Every devotee must have a target. Srila Saraswati Thakur's target was: as many years I am alive, that many branches I shall make. He was alive in this world for sixty-four years, and he made sixty-four temple branches in his lifetime.

Guru Maharaj's children did not understand everything, and my children too do not understand everything, but Gurudev tried so hard for us. He said that if you want to get great things, you must leave small matter. It is those who serve the Lord that get the Lord. Leave all these small things—ahara, nidra, bhaya, maithunam cha (আহার, নিদ্রা, ভয়, মৈথুনং চ, eating, sleeping, fearing, mating); "gramya-katha na sunibe, gramya-varta na kahibe / bhala na khaibe ara bhala na paribe (গ্রাম্যকথা না শুনিবে, গ্রাম্যবার্ত্তা না কহিবে / ভাল না খাইবে আর ভাল না পরিবে): Do not talk like people in general or hear what they say. Do not eat fancy food, do not wear fancy clothes." (Cc, 3.6.236)

If you are eating something and not sharing with anybody, that is not good. If you feel happiness, you must make others happy, must distribute this message—if you serve the Lord and get happiness, if you chant the Holy Name and feel happiness, then you must encourage others to chant, encourage others to serve.

You must have a clear aim in your life. When you get on a boat, that boat must have a captain. If the boat has no captain, the boat cannot run. We must go to a boat that has a captain. If you take a bus, a train, or a plane, there must be a driver. If you get on a plane but then realise there is no pilot, how will the plane fly without a pilot? You must get the right boat—you must become a passenger of a boat that has a captain; if a boat has no captain, we will not go there. In the same way, if we have no aim in life, it will not take us anywhere. We must think, "I have come to Krishna consciousness and I will practise it properly. I will distribute the proper things to the proper devotees." That is the main thing.

When Bokaro devotees invited me once, I told them, "I will bring fifty malas, and you will make fifty devotees ready to take initiation. I will not go there and take any malas back. When you are ready, I will come."

It is necessary to serve your Guru. You take initiation and you must serve your Guru—you must do what your Guru tells you to do, and do it successfully.

Relief and Relish
What is it that can give you an extraordinary relief and what is it that you can relish in this very lifetime? 'Our time is always going, our life is always passing, but you will not get this kind of opportunity again.'

Ke yabi ke yabi
'All souls have thus been delivered by the winds of divine love. Only Lochan Das has fallen and remained behind, as a result of his sins.'
কে যাবি কে যাবি

You can die at any time—are you going to do something after death? Next life?
Do something now.
