Message of Guru, Vaishnavs

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
17 February 2017, Tarakeswar
Bengali evening class, part 2

You should listen to the teachings, to the message of the Guru and Vaishnavs, you should listen to the message of Srimad Bhagavad-gita. What does Gita say? You do Kali puja, Durga puja, Laksmi puja, Ganesh puja, Kartik puja, etc. but there are two Saraswatis, for example. One Saraswati (goddess Saraswati) makes you an ass, and the other Saraswati (Srila Saraswati Thakur, suddha Saraswati) gives you transcendental knowledge. Suddha Saraswati brings you the message of Goloka prema-dhama (the transcendental abode of love), about Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Lord Krishna Himself is the creator of this world and the entire universe. In this Kali yuga, the Lord appears as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and goes house to house to save the conditioned souls.

For nine-ten months we were in our mother's womb, head down, legs up, and we got so much austerity. Those who are fortunate souls get to see the Lord in the womb of their mother. The Lord comes and says,

"Why have you called Me?"

"Prabhu," prays the soul, "I cannot stay here any longer. Worms are biting me... Please let me out! Save me!"

"All right, but when I let you out, you will forget everything. I will give you eyes so that you can see My vigraha (Deity form)."

(The Deity of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Madan-Mohan will live here in this temple. Do you know who served Madan-Mohan? There are three deities in the Gaudiya Vaishnav line—Radha-Gopinath, Radha-Govinda, Radha-Mohan. Madan-Mohan was served in His Deity form by Sanatan Goswami. There was a Muslim emperor whose wife became jealous of the grand temples of Vrindavan, she could not tolerate it and told her husband to break them. The Jaipur King took the Deity and left for Jaipur. This Madan-Mohan Deity will be installed here in Tarakeswar on 26 February.)

So, the Lord says, "I will give you eyes so you can see My vigraha; I will give you ears so you can hear about Me; I will give you mouth so you can speak about me," and so on. The Lord has given us so much, but

ভজিব বলিয়া এসে সংসার-ভিতরে ।
ভুলিয়া রহিলে তুমি অবিদ্যার ভরে ॥

bhajibo boliya ese samsara-bhitare
bhuliya rohile tumi avidyara bhare

"You came into this world saying, 'O Lord, I will serve You', but, having forgotten this promise, you have remained in ignorance."

('Jiva Jago Jiva Jago' by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur)

You have promised the Lord that you will do His service, but what are you doing now? You have got eyes, and some mucus, tears come from your eyes; earwax comes from your ears; mucus comes from your nose; saliva comes from you mouth; bad things, stool comes from your anus, etc. You have nine doors in your body, and some dirty things come from each of the door, but the Lord so merciful—He has given you a tongue, a mouth, but if you do not chant the Holy Name of the Lord with this mouth, if instead you criticise and gossip about others, then what is the difference between your mouth and the place where stool comes from? You must think about this.

জীবন অনিত্য জানহ সার
তাহে নানাবিধ বিপদ-ভার ।
নামাশ্রয় করি' যতনে তুমি
থাকহ আপন কাজে ॥

jivana anitya janaha sara
tahe nana-vidha vipada-bhara
namasraya kari' yatane tumi
thakaha apana kaje

"Understand the essence: life is temporary and filled with all sorts of adversity. Carefully taking shelter of the Name, engage in your work."

Life is not eternal. Even we say that we are going to install the Deities, but we may or may not be here at that time. We can leave at any time.

দিন যায় মিছা কাজে নিশা নিদ্রাবশে ।
নাহি ভাবি মরণ নিকটে আছে বসে ॥

dina yaya michha kaje nisa nidra-base
nahi bhavi marana nikate achhe base

My days are passed in useless work and nights are wasted on sleeping. It never occurs to me that there is death sitting next to me.

('Durlabha manava janma labhiya' by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur)

We sleep and spend our days busy with so many things, but the time is passing. We never think that at any time we can go. Mahaprabhu came to this world and went house to house telling everyone,

জীব জাগ, জীব জাগ, গোরাচাঁদ বলে ।
কত নিদ্রা যাও মায়া-পিশাচীর কোলে ॥

jiva jaga, jiva jaga, gorachanda bale
kata nidra yao maya-pisachira kole

Sri Gorachand says, "O souls, awake! O souls, awake! How much longer will you sleep in the lap of the witch Maya?"

"O soul! Do not sleep, wake up! You have lost your address!" This is not your house, this is not your address—you must understand that you are only a security guard of your house, but actually this is not your house. The Lord gives us some days in our life and as many days He gives us, that many days we will stay here. You are only a security guard, you are guarding this house but one day you will have to leave.

So, we pray at your feet and ask you to please always engage in service of the Lord, always engage in Hari-kirtan, always chant the Holy Name of the Lord.

Practice Makes Happy
'You chant the Holy Name, you always remember Krishna, remember Gurudev, you always practise properly and engage yourself in service to the Lord, so Krishna always makes you happy.'

A scientist named Newton said that every action has equal and opposite reaction,
but we do not want to give opposite reaction. It is not our duty to give it.
