Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Srila Govinda Maharaj's Sri Vyasa Puja adhivas day
4 December 2017, part 1

Actually, up until Saturday [2 December 2017] we had not quite decided where the big programme on Gurudev's appearance day would be held. We tried to go to Nabadwip on Saturday—all the devotees from Bengal were also ready to come to Nabadwip for this festival—but anyhow, by the will of Gurudev, by the will of Krishna, by the will of Mahaprabhu, it did not happen, that is why we decided yesterday that we will make the festival here in Dum Dum Park in front of Sri Sri Guru Gauranga Radha Madan Mohan jiu. We called and informed many of the Bengali devotees yesterday and they will come tomorrow. They were actually ready to go to Nabadwip, but when they learned the programme there was called off, they did not manage to come here today, and also the accommodation here is not very large. That is why many did not come today, but all the Bengali devotees are coming tomorrow in the morning.

We think that we have decided something, but actually everything is in the hands of Gurudev, in the hands of Lord Krishna and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Nothing is in our hands. We cannot do anything ourselves. What Gurudev wishes, that will happen, and we mainly need to have some patience and tolerance. We may expect or wish for something, but it may not happen—everything depends on Gurudev's mercy.

Gurudev came to this world and many times went on worldwide tours—he travelled all over the world distributing his mercy, distributing the message of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and it is by his mercy that we are still here. We are actually only instruments—he does everything, everything is in his hands.

Gurudev always told, "Wait and see," and we must try to follow this. We must listen to his words, listen to what he had told us. This is how we are running Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math Krishnanusilana Sangha, by his mercy.

Sometimes some problem comes in our spiritual life, but we should not be disheartened because of that. We must continue practising our spiritual life. Gurudev said, "Wherever you stay, whatever place you stay, do not forget Krishna consciousness, do not forget your practising life—wherever you live you must continue your practising life." We must follow this.

Always remember Gurudev. There are so many friends and well-wishers of Gurudev all over the world, and when we see them we think that Gurudev is always with us. There are many acharyas of this Mission all over the world who preach in many ways, who talk about Gurudev's mercy as much as they know, and I am happy with their preaching. We must try to follow Gurudev's words—wherever Gurudev is present, we should meet with the devotees there and practise there together.

Sukha-duhkha sama-bhave: if you think that you are happy or that you are unhappy—we must think that it does not matter, it is the same for us. How we see this Krishna consciousness, how much we can proceed in our spiritual life depends upon your practice, your service, your service mood, as well as the mercy of Gurudev, the mercy of the Guru-varga.

We are very fortunate that we have got this kind of a bona fide Guru who was appointed by a big personality, our Param Gurudev Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj. He gave him his mercy and sent him all over the world to distribute the message of his Guru. Gurudev did not preach about himself—he preached about his Guru. This is an example for our spiritual life. Gurudev never thought about himself, he always thought about the devotees, about his Guru and how much he could preach about his Guru. He always tried to preach up until his disappearance. We must learn from his example, from his teaching. It is a lesson for us.

We could not understand before how much love and affection Gurudev gave us, how much he tolerated me and others, how great his patience was, only later, after his disappearance, did we understand it. Nonetheless, we are still alive, we have life in our body, then we must continue our practising life. Wherever we live, we should not listen so many gossips—gramya-katha na bolibe, gramya-katha na sunibe (do not speak gossips, do not listen to gossips). This is what Mahaprabhu taught. He also always,

কৃষ্ণ যদি ছুটে ভক্তে ভুক্তি মুক্তি দিয়া ।
কভু ভক্তি না দেন রাখেন লুকাইয়া ॥

krsna yadi chhute bhakte bhukti mukti diya
kabhu prema-bhakti na dena rakhena lukaiya

"If you ask Krishna for anything except devotion, He can give you those things—bhukti, mukti, liberation, and so on—but He will hide devotion from you. You will not get devotion."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Adi-lila, 8.18)

If you ask Krishna for some enjoyment, if you have your own interest, Krishna will give it to you, but He will take devotion away from you.

We must continue our service, our practise wherever we are, then we can reach the Lord...

Adosa-Darasi
'Gurudev said, 'If you criticise somebody, that fault will come to you.' He did not want to hear anybody criticising or anybody being criticised. Criticism takes one to a hellish position.'

Yadi gaura na ha'ta
'If Sri Gaura had not come, what would have happened? How would we have maintained our lives? Who would have revealed to the world Sri Radha's glory and the extremes of Her ecstatic divine love?'
যদি, গৌর না হ'ত

What order Gurudev gives, we have to follow that.

"HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS | HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS"
