Mahaprabhu told Nityananda Prabhu, "I am leaving Nabadwip, Gaura mandal, but I am giving the responsibility to preach in Gaura mandal to You. Preach Krishna-katha there." Nityananda Prabhu understood, "It is very hard to preach Krishna-katha—people cannot understand so much Krishna-katha, but if I preach about Mahaprabhu, then people will understand it easily and they will easily take Mahaprabhu's conception." This is how Nityananda Prabhu started preaching about Mahaprabhu.

Mahaprabhu chanted Hare Krishna, "Harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam...", "Hari haraya nama krsna yadavaya namah, yadavaya madhavaya kesavaya namah", but Nityananda Prabhu chanted,

ভজ গৌরাঙ্গ, কহ গৌরাঙ্গ, লহ গৌরাঙ্গের নাম রে
যে জন গৌরাঙ্গ ভজে, সেই আমার প্রাণ রে

bhaja gauranga, kaha gauranga, laha gaurangera nama re
ye jana gauranga bhaje, sei amara prana re

"Worship Gauranga! Say Gauranga! Take Gauranga's Name! Those who worship Gauranga are My heart and soul!"

"Chant Mahaprabhu's name, listen to Mahaprabhu's lecture, listen to Mahaprabhu's teachings, and speak about that—speak about Mahaprabhu's teachings."

Our duty is to learn what the main teachings of Mahaprabhu are. You should read Chaitanya-charitamrita, Chaitanya-bhagavat properly.

"Bhagavata pada Vaisnavera sthane, ekanta asraya kara Chaitanya-charane (ভাগবত পড় বৈষ্ণবের স্থানে, একান্ত আশ্রয় কর চৈতন্য-চরণে). Read Bhagavatam under the guidance of bona fide Vaishnavs and take shelter at Mahaprabhu's lotus feet."

It is necessary to surrender. Do not think so much about yourself. For as many days you are alive in this world, you must preach Krishna-katha, preach Gauranga-katha, preach Guru-katha, Guru Maharaj's katha. If you preach that, what is the need for you to worry about your future?

Gurudev always preached Guru Maharaj's katha, and now we are preaching Gurudev's katha, Gurudev's lectures—we are preaching Gurudev's glories. You must understand that it is not necessary to preach for yourself. If you preach for your Guru, then Guru will arrange for people to preach about you. That is the main principle of preaching.

Self-glorification is not our ideal, not our teaching. Mahaprabhu never preached about Himself—He never said He was Bhagavan (the Lord). We preach that Mahaprabhu is the Lord, that Nityananda Prabhu is non-different from the Lord. This is what we preach and teach everybody; this is what we learn from our Gurudev, from the devotees. This is our preaching standard.

It is not necessary to preach about yourself. If you preach for your Gurudev, if you preach his glories, that is sufficient for your spiritual life; people will understand it easily and everybody will respect you. If you give respect to others, everybody will give respect to you; if you love everybody, then you will get love and affection from everybody. That is the main thing, the main teaching of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and that is our teachings and main things.
