All Loss, All Gain His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We must throw our own happiness for others' benefit. A few days ago someone went to hospital and told me the doctor there works from early morning till 2 a.m. I was thinking how can one work like this? Working till so late at night, they can give someone a wrong medicine. But the doctor is not angry, he is not worried, he just sits and does his job. Imagine how many patients come to doctors to cure their material diseases—someone has a headache, someone's leg is paining, etc. They all come there and sit in the hallway waiting to see the doctor... But the bhava-rog doctors, the doctors that cure the heart diseases of material existence, themselves come to you. If only we could become such bhava-rog doctors. How will people who have fallen into this illusory world, struggling and drowning in this ocean of material existence, get relief? We must think about them.
তৃণাধিক হীন দীন অকিঞ্চন ছার ।
trnadhika hina, dina, akinchana chhara "Give up your false ego, and always consider yourself lower than grass, poor, needy, and mean." Proud of wealth, proud of education, proud of bodily beauty, proud of some mystic powers—how many days will you stay here, tell me? Apane manabi sada chhadi' ahankara—always try to leave your ego.
বৃক্ষসম ক্ষমাগুণ করবি সাধন ।
vrksa-sama ksama-guna karabi sadhana "Practise tolerance like a tree. Give up vengeance and nurture others."
জীবন-নির্ব্বাহে আনে উদ্বেগ না দিবে ।
jivana-nirvahe ane udvega na dibe "Live without causing anxiety to others; do good unto others without considering your own happiness." We must throw our own happiness for others' benefit. Forgetting their own happiness, leaving everyone—their fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, wives, friends, whoever they had—sadhus, Gurus and Vaishnavs go door to door and tell people about Krishna consciousness. We pray to you—always speak about Krishna, always hear about Krishna. This is the greatest benefit in this world. We must speak about Krishna, we must preach about Krishna. If you only come here and say "Haribol," "Haribol," this is not real service. It would be better if you always thought about Gurudev, about the Lord. Even if you hear you have cancer, for example, and you have to die soon, do not worry—you have to die one day any way. If you can spend the time talking about Krishna consciousness, chanting the Holy Name and leave your body, then the benefit from doing this will stay with you in the next life as well. If you get to know that you have to leave in, say, six months, even if you have cancer and it cannot be cured, then you have only one medicine—chanting the Holy Name. Spend your life in kirtan. In this way you can get supreme benefit. This world is temporary, we all have to leave this world one day. We have been born in the form of a human this life, and one day you will have to leave and answer—what answer will you give? If you do not have the ferry fare, how will you cross this ocean of material existence? You must first earn the fare. If you cannot do that, then you will not be able to pass—you will have to return here again. You can see there are so many bhukti-, mukti-, siddhi-kami (people seeking enjoyment, liberation, powers), so many karmi gurus, jnani gurus, yogi gurus—they all stand in one line, but Bhakti Devi is guarding the door and does not let anyone enter. Bhakti Devi will let on the boat only those who have devotion, who have earned the qualification, who have the ticket, and others will be denied entry, they will have to go back. That is why it is said that among millions of karmis (fruitive workers), there is one jnani (wise man); among millions of jnanis (wise people) there is one liberated soul; and among millions of liberated souls there is only one devotee of Krishna. Even though it is so rare to find such a devotee, but that one devotee can liberate the entire universe.
