Clasping for Shelter

মূকং করোতি বাচালং পঙ্গুং লঙ্ঘয়তে গিরিম্ ।
যৎকৃপা তমহং বন্দে শ্রীগুরুং দীনতারণম্ ॥

mukam karoti vachalam pangum langhayate girim
yat krpa tam aham vande sri-gurum dina-taranam

"The dumb can speak, the lame can climb a hill—all it takes is mercy from Gurudev."

First of all, I am offering my full obeisance at the lotus feet of Om Vishnupad Jagad Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj begging him for his causeless mercy. After that, I am offering my obeisance to all Guru-varga, all the worldwide acharyas, to all my God-brothers and sisters, to all devotees, sannyasis, brahmacharis and all of you praying for your mercy to this low soul.

As I have told earlier, we are very fortunate to have come here to Sri Ekachakra Dham. "Nitaiyer karuna habe Vraje Radha Krsna pabe (নিতাইয়ের করুণা হবে ব্রজে রাধাকৃষ্ণ পাবে): without Nityananda Prabhu we cannot get mercy of Radha-Krishna." You have heard it, it is a very nice kirtan—but only hearing is not enough, you must also realise its meaning. It is such a beautiful kirtan:

নিতাই-পদকমল কোটীচন্দ্র-সুশীতল
যে ছায়ায় জগত জুড়ায় ।

nitai-pada-kamala, koti chandra-susitala,
ye chhayaya jagata judaya

"Cooling like ten million moons, Nitai's lotus feet soothe the world with their shade."

The moon gives light, the sun also gives light, but what is the difference? When the sun rises, everything becomes hot, but when the moon rises, does it get hot? No. Koti chandra-susitala—just as everything becomes cool by the light of the moon, in the same way, if you take shelter of Nityananda Prabhu's lotus feet, you will feel the coolness of millions of moons. The light of His feet relieves, cools the entire world.

হেন নিতাই বিনে ভাই রাধাকৃষ্ণ পাইতে নাই
দৃঢ় করি ধর নিতাই পায় ॥

hena nitai vine bhai radha-krsna paite nai
drdha kari' dhara nitaira paya

"Without Nitai, you cannot reach Radha-Krsna. Firmly grasp Nitai's feet."

"Drdha" means strongly—you must take shelter of Nityananda Prabhu with all your strength, firmly; you must take shelter of Guru-tattva with all your strength. Gurudev also said in his book,

যদ্যপি আমার গুরু বেশ্যা-বাড়ি যায় ।
তথাপিও আমার গুরু নিত্যানন্দ-রায় ॥

yadyapi amara guru vesya-bari yaya
tathapio amara guru nityananda-raya

"Even if my Guru, Nityananda Ray, goes to a prostitute's house, He is still my Guru."

People say many things about Nityananda Prabhu—He goes to this house, to that house, He does not follow any rules or regulations, etc. but Mahaprabhu Himself gave a certificate to Nityananda Prabhu:

মদিরা যবনী যাদি নিত্যানন্দ ধরে ।
তথাপি ব্রহ্মার বন্দ্য কহিল তোমারে ॥

madira javani jadi nityananda dhare
tathapi brahmara vandya kahila tomare

(Sri Chaitanya-bhagavat: Antya-khanda, 6.123)

"If Nityananda Prabhu comes drunk with a Muslim girl hand in hand, even then Brahma will not see any fault in Him." Who gave Nityananda Prabhu such certificate? Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Such is Nityananda Prabhu's quality, and He is Guru-tattva.

You have heard that when Nityananda Prabhu came to Nabadwip, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu told Chandrasekhara Acharya and Srivas Pandit, "You go find Him." In those days, there were not so many houses in Mayapur—there were not so many temples, houses, etc. Nityananda Prabhu came to meet with Mahaprabhu, and Mahaprabhu is antaryami, He understood that He had come, but nobody could find Him—they came back to Mahaprabhu and said, "Prabhu, we have not found anyone." "You have not? Then I will go Myself!" Mahaprabhu Himself went to the house of a householder devotee named Nandan Acharya where Nityananda Prabhu was. He came there and immediately embraced Nityananda Prabhu, and after they spoke a little, Mahaprabhu took His hand and brought Him to His house where Sachi Mata fed Them both very nicely.

That is why it is said that Nityananda Prabhu is actually very hidden (esoteric)—it is very difficult to find Him. Unless one is a very fortunate soul, one can never find Him.
