{ HARI-KATHA IN KULGACHIA }
Life Is Uncertain

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Kulgachia Gram, Howrah District
6 May 2018, part 3

Suppose you buy a mobile phone. If you keep it in your room, after a few days the battery will go flat and it will be necessary to charge it. If you do not charge the microphone, the battery will also go flat one day. Similarly, when you constantly hear Krishna-katha, you charge your battery. Otherwise, if we do not 'charge our battery,' after a few days it will go flat and we will leave Krishna consciousness (become averse to Krishna again)—maya (illusory environment) can attack us.

Maya is very powerful and, if you become weak, she can attack you. So, if you always keep good association, keep devotees' association, there will be no danger of maya. Wherever the Holy Name of Krishna is chanted, maya runs far away from there. Otherwise she can attack at any time.

People say, "Maharaj, please give me your mercy." To give mercy means you get service. Guru Maharaj said, "If you have service, you have mercy. If you have no service, you have no mercy." You must remember this. It is a great fortune to be able to participate in the service of the Lord. If you continuously do your service here, then one day you can go to Goloka Vrindavan and get the same service there. When you always serve here, it becomes your habit, and eventually you will be able to take part in the service of Radha-Govinda in Goloka Vrindavan.

We have come to this world and, as it is said in one of the kirtans, "Jivana anitya janaha sara tahe nana-vidha vipada-bhara." Life is uncertain, we can leave at any time. Death is always near us, and we can leave this body at any moment. We do not have the fortune that Pariksit Maharaj or Khatvanga Maharaj had—we do not have so much fortune to know how many days we will be alive. Khatvanga Maharaj learnt that he had only forty-eight minutes left before he had to leave this world, Pariksit Maharaj learnt that his remaining lifetime was seven days. Munis, rishis can know how long they will live, but we do not have such fortune—we do not know whether we will be alive for seven days, seven weeks, seven years or not. There is no guarantee. We can leave at any second, so we must not lose time.

If we engage ourselves in the service of Govinda, then we will get super benefit and we will be able to take part in the service of Radha-Govinda.

Discard Your Mind
'Whether happiness comes or sadness comes, it is the same; whether your enemy comes or your friend comes it is also the same. It is not even necessary to think who is your enemy and who is your friend.'

Jaya jaya gurudever
'In the sky of the Gaudiya Vaisnavas, you are the sun-like Acharya. You are always fond of service, and your voice is sweet.'

Why are we tired? Tired means we are using our time for another purpose; it means maya is taking our time for her own purpose.
