Love, Lust, and Rust His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
When you drink sugar cane juice, you throw the pulp away, and if some madman can come and suck that dry pulp—will he get any sweetness from that? We are also like this. Time after time we get birth, time after time we live a material life—some time you may leave the material life and come to the temple, but then you get another birth again and you again become bound by material life. Listen to what I am saying. We only keep on repeating the message of Chaitanyadev. So, today we first went to Jagananda Pandit's place, he is the author of Prema-vivarta. Actually, what is called prema (love)? He teaches this in this book. The love between a man and a women that is commonly known in our days is not love, it is lust. Lust is darkness. Two people fall in love, get married and what happens after that is what they call love, but if that is love, then how can the husband kill his wife? Is this love, tell me? If you read the newspapers, you can see that this happens every day... There is a saying in Bengali that literally says "even if you wash coal a hundred times, the dirt will not come off" [কয়লা শত ধুইলেও ময়লা যায় না; black will take no other hue]. If you associate with a good person, you will become good, and if you associate with a bad person, you will also become bad. We all know that magnet always attracts iron, but if the iron is covered with rust, then it will not attract it any more. Because of our ignorance, we have become rusty and Krishna does not attract us.
