গুর্ব্বাভীষ্টসুপূরকং গুরুগণৈরাশীষসংভূষিতং
চিন্ত্যাচিন্ত্যসমস্তবেদনিপুণং শ্রীরূপপন্থানুগম্ ।
গোবিন্দাভিধমুজ্জ্বলং বরতনুং ভক্ত্যন্বিতং সুন্দরং
বন্দে বিশ্বগুরুঞ্চ দিব্যভগবৎ-প্রম্­ণো হি বীজপ্রদম্ ॥

gurvvabhista-supurakam guru-ganair asisa-sambhusitam
chintyachintya-samasta-veda-nipunam sri-rupa-panthanugam
govindabhidham ujjvalam vara-tanum bhakty anvitam-sundaram
vande visva-gurun cha divya-bhagavat-premno hi bija-pradam

I offer my obeisance unto he who perfectly fulfils his Gurudev's most cherished desires; who is fully adorned with the blessings of his Gurudev’s associates; who is expert in all aspects of Vedic knowledge, both conceivable and inconceivable; who is the pre-eminent follower of Srila Rupa Goswami Prabhu's line; who is known as 'Govinda'—Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj; whose beautiful, effulgent, exalted form is infused with pure devotion; who is the Guru of the entire universe; and who is the giver of the seed of divine love for the Supreme Lord.

মূকং করোতি বাচালং পঙ্গুং লঙ্ঘয়তে গিরিম্ ।
যৎকৃপা তমহং বন্দে শ্রীগুরুং দীনতারণম্ ॥

mukam karoti vachalam pangum langhayate girim
yat krpa tam aham vande sri-gurum dina-taranam

First, I am paying my full obeisance to my beloved Gurudev, Om Vishnupad Jagad-Guru Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj's lotus feet and I am also paying obeisance to my Param Gurudev Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj. Then, I am paying obeisance to all the devotees, all of my Guru-varga, all of my godbrothers and godsisters, all of my friends and well-wishers. I am paying obeisance to you all.

Actually, you know that in this world people cannot give much attention to the Lord's service—some cannot understand, some can understand what is necessary, what will give benefit to their spiritual life, why we have got this human body, what this human body must be used for. Not everybody knows it because we have forgotten the Absolute, we have forgotten the Lord; that is why we are suffering from so many kinds of problems now.

We cannot understand properly what is necessary for our spiritual life because we are always attacked by the illusory environment—we work under Maya, and Maya is always taking us in the other, wrong, way; she always tries to remove us from our service. We always think about kanak, kamini, pratistha, but we must understand who kanak is for, who kamini is for, and who pratistha is for. All kamini (ladies) are for Krishna; kanak (money) is for Narayan, Laksmi Devi; and pratistha (name and fame) is for Gurudev.

Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur composed a song where he says, "Pratistha lagiya sathya-acharana lobha-hata sada kami (প্রতিষ্ঠা লাগিয়া শাঠ্য-আচরণ লোভ-হত সদা কামী): I engage in deceitful behaviour in pursuit of prestige. I am ruined by greed and constantly covetous." We run behind name and fame, but name and fame are for Gurudev. Even when somebody is giving me a garland—just now you saw that somebody gave me a garland—I pray to Gurudev, "This garland is for you." If I think this garland is coming to me, that I am wearing it, then some pratistha can come to me and it will be bad for my spiritual life. Whatever pratistha comes to me, it is for Gurudev. It is necessary to understand this because if we think that we do everything, that without me something cannot run, it is false and wrong. Guru, Vaishnavs, and the Lord are doing everything. That is the main thing. They do everything: without their mercy we cannot make even one step. First of all. we must have desire to receive the mercy of Gurudev.
