Nitaichand: Our Eternal Shelter

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Ekachakra Dham, morning class
15 February 2019, part 4

These are Nityananda Prabhu's pastimes. When He was twelve years old, He left His house—a sannyasi came and begged Hadai Pandit and Padmavati Devi for their only son. He asked Padmavati Devi, "Can you give me your son?" She said, "I cannot decide, but when my husband comes, he will tell." Then, Hadai Pandit consulted with Padmavati Devi and they agreed to give their only son to that sannyasi, and He left.

After that, Nityananda Prabhu visited many places with Mahaprabhu. One time, when Mahaprabhu was preaching in Kalna area (it is near Nabadwip, we pass it when we come here), He came to the house of Gauridas Pandit and his brother Surya Das. Mahaprabhu thought, "Nityananda Prabhu does not have any family, does not have anyone. Who will cook for Him and look after Him?" So, He arranged first Jahnava, and then Vasudha (both are daughters if Surya Das) for Nityananda Prabhu. After Nityananda Prabhu, Jahnava continued His line. Later, Vasuda Devi's son Virachandra Prabhu took initiation from Jahnava Devi and continued the line after her. Jahnava spent her last days on the bank of Radha Kunda, she did her bhajan and worship there, and every time we go to Vrindavan we visit her samadhi and bhajan place. These are the pastimes of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu

As for us, we are fallen souls, we must always ask for forgiveness, "Please, remove our offence." This is the main thing for us.

কবে নিত্যানন্দ মোরে করি' দয়া ।
ছাড়াইবে মোর বিষয়ের মায়া ॥

kabe nityananda more kari' daya
chhadaibe mora visayera maya

When will Nityananda be compassionate to me and relieve me from the mundane illusion?

("Kabe habe bolo se dina amar" by Srila Bhakti Vinod Thakur)

"When will He be kind to us? When will our material desires, material attachments be removed from our hearts? When will the day come when I will be free from this material bondage?"

Lord Nityananda Prabhu is our eternal shelter. We cannot conceive of it, but Guru-Nityananda is our eternal shelter. Gurudev is the eternal shelter of our life. Unless we can realise or understand this—unless we can understand what the reality, vastava-vastu, is, there is no other way for us to get relief from suffering (tri-tap-jvala: adhibhautik, adhidaivik, adhyatmik, আধিভৌতিক, আধিদৈবিক, আধ্যাত্মিক, miseries caused by one's body, by the nature, and other souls). We are always suffering from so much in our lives and we cannot understand it. If we cannot understand what is the reality, then we have no way to get relief from this suffering.

We spend so much time talking so much gramya-katha, talking so much nonsense, but we must stop it. We must glorify Nityananda Prabhu in this world. That is what Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur told.

Passed or Failed?
'When you join the temple who will give you a certificate? You must make your certificate yourself. You can easily understand yourself whether you pass or fail, 'Is the taste for Hari-katha, Krishna-katha coming to me or do I think more about other things?''

Thakura vaisnava-gana
'Destiny is very powerful. It does not listen to my knowledge of religion and always binds me with the ropes of karma. I do not see even a trace of hope. All I see is hardship. Thus helpless and distressed, I cry.'

If I see some brahmachari doing something wrong, it is not my business.
