First Memories of Sri Ekachakra Dham

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Sri Ekachakra Dham
14 February 2019, part 3

I had heard Ekachakra's name (Nityananda Prabhu's birthplace) before and I had wanted to come here many times, but when I told about it to Gurudev, he said, "What will you go there for? It is all a sahajiya place there." Later, in 2004, I offered Gurudev around Gaura Purnima time to take some devotees to Ekachakra, and Gurudev finally allowed it—he said, "OK, you can go with devotees and do some parikrama there, but on your way you must stop in Jajigram and pay obeisance there."

Srila Acharya Srinivas Prabhu's house is in Jajigram, it is about three kilometres from Katwa, the place where Mahaprabhu took sannyas. There is a little temple there now, and Gurudev told me to stop there, so to this day we always remember that and stop there. There is also one more place in that area—Narahari Thakur pat, the house of brothers Mukunda Prabhu and Harahari Thakur in Srikhand (Bardhaman district, near Katwa). Mukunda Prabhu is the father of Raghunandan Prabhu (his appearance day was just a few days ago, we celebrated it in Tarakeshwar). In that area also here is Jagadanandapur, the house of Jagadananda Pandit. Hapaniya, our Srila Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj's birthplace, is also near. Our Gurudev's birthplace (Bamunpara) is a little to the west from there, it is 15-20 kilometers from Hapaniya.

Anyway, I went to Nityananda Prabhu's birthplace first time in 2004. We took some breakfast in Jajigram and after that continued our journey by two buses, one rented and the other one is our preaching bus (that is now in Ekachakra). We got a cook and brought cooking utensils with us, so when we arrived we cooked and then did a parikrama of Ekachakra.

At that time, there was no house at Pandav-tala—there was just a tree. The five Pandavas stayed there, Vyasadev also visited this place. Behind our temple there is a very nice kunda called Jahnu Kunda, or Hantugada place. This is the place where Nityananda Balaram played and it is said that where there is Balaram there is Krishna. There is also Kadam-khandi, the place where it is said that Yamuna became narrow for fear of Nityananda Prabhu.

Nityananda Prabhu is avadhut. It means he can purify the lowest, the most sinful people; and the other meaning is that He is beyond any rules and regulations. Some people cannot understand Nityananda Prabhu and they criticise Him, but Sriman Mahaprabhu said that someone may criticise Nityananda Prabhu, but even Brahma always worships Him, and if anyone criticises Him even by mistake, they will have to go to hell. This is what Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu told.

Parikrama of Sri Govardhan
'How do we do parikrama? Govardhan is like a peacock, our temple is near Manasa Ganga, at the mouth of Govardhan, and we start the parikrama from the tail and do half portion one day, and the second half the next day.'

Sujanarvuda-radhita-pada-yugam
'He is the moon that delights his star-like servants. His great, lion-like roar scares away the inimical. His feet bestow auspiciousness upon the simple who accept them. Eternally I offer my obeisance to my master's feet.'

It is necessary to understand where the mantra and the guru come from.

"HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS | HUMILITY, TOLERANCE, GIVING HONOUR TO OTHERS"
