One-Pointed Hearts His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We always follow the desires of our tongues, we run to please and serve our senses—we always think about our eyes, nose, ears, tongues, skin, mind, intelligence, and ego. How unfortunate we are! Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur also wrote, "Emana durmati samsara bhitare padiya achhinu ami: O Lord! I am very wicked-minded and have fallen into this material world." We have fallen into this material world and, bound by Maya, we are now floundering here. There is no scarcity of visaya-vistha (stool of material world)—you can enjoy whatever stool you give up now later when you are born as a dog or a pig. Out of mercy to us, sadhus, Gurus and Vaishnavs come to give us an opportunity to do this Nabadwip Dham parikrama, to hear Hari-katha, they come to take us to this line, but we, overcome by petty things, by the greed of our tongues, think, "I want to eat meat, I want to eat fish, I want to eat this, I want to eat that, I want to eat nice food." We do not want to take initiation because we cannot give up meat, fish, masoor dal (lentil), etc. How many days will you be alive? You will eat for one hundred days, but what will happen to you after that? You will take birth as a hog and you will be eating all the stool that you discharge now. This is what the scriptures say. Some are thinking now, "When will we go from here? I am hungry!" Pigs also say this, "When will I go? I am hungry!" There is better food than stool, but if you give sugar syrup to a pig, it will not even try it, but if you bring it a bucket of stool, it will at once put its entire face inside and start enjoying. We are like that too... Some worry, "How can I take initiation? They do not allow to eat meat, fish!" Some worry, "What about my daughter? What about my son-in-law? What will I eat when I go to my relatives' house?" Some think, "Others eat nice egg omelettes, but how am I to tolerate it? I only get boiled potato..." I hear people say these things. Srimad Bhagavad-gita (18.66) says,
সর্ব্বধর্ম্মান্ পরিত্যজ্য মামেকং শরণং ব্রজ ।
sarva-dharman parityajya, mam ekam saranam vraja "Give up all kinds of religion and surrender to Me alone. I will liberate you from all sins, do not despair." Lord Krishna says, "Leave all religions and surrender to Me!" When you surrender to Krishna, why will you kill Krishna's jiva souls? Everybody belongs to Krishna, and everything that exists in this world must be used for Krishna's service. If you eat all those other things, do you think you will get the taste for the Lord? If you eat outside food, listen to outside kirtans, this is hodge-podge devotion (panchmisali bhakti, পাঁচমিশালি ভক্তি)! We have become hodge-podge devotees! Our hearts must be one-pointed, but instead we are splayed among so many other directions. We do not want to behave like prostitutes—we do not go this side, that side, that side; our conception is one direction, our heart must be one-pointed otherwise we can never get the Lord. [A devotee says what people say in support of their meat-eating conception.] If they say this, then what will you do? They are unfortunate. Those who do not have sukriti will not hear these things. I have told you all before—as long as we do not have the desire to serve the Lord, these words will never enter our ears no matter how much we are told about it. Get this book (Sri Upadesh 3, Guidance 3), you will get all answers there. There are 108 questions and answers in this book. Anyhow, you have heard a lot today. If anyone has questions, you can tell me. Get ready for the parikrama, do not forget to wear the caps with our Math's contact details—if you get lost somewhere on the way, you can always find us then. Wear Tulasi beads on your necks, put the tilaks. Then the Lord will see too, "Oh, My devotees have come to circumambulate My abode." You know, once someone came to Mahaprabhu without a tilak on his forehead (it had got erased), and Mahaprabhu chastised him saying, "Your forehead looks like a crematorium!" After that, that devotee always came with the tilak on. That is why we put tilaks—so that our forehead does not look like a crematorium. If you do not have the tilak clay, you can buy it at the bookstore, it is open every day, all day. [His Divine Grace chants 'Hari Haraye Nama Krishna' and finishes the evening class.]
