At Sri Subarna Bihar Gaudiya Math His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Listen attentively. This is Subarna Bihar Gaudiya Math, established by Bhagavan Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur, Gurudev of our Param Gurudev. He is the establisher of all Gaudiya Maths. We are now here in Godrumdwip. Our temple in Nrisingha Palli is also in Godrumdwip. You have heard the name of Acharya Srinivas—Ishan Thakur, a servant of Mahaprabhu's family in Mayapur, showed Acharya Srinivas this place and told him, "This is Subarna Bihar." In Satya-yuga, the king of Gaura Mandal was King Subarna Sen. This king Subarna Sen had some sukriti from his previous lives. Usually, kings are always engrossed with material things and always think about material things and money, however if one has some devotion, if one had done anything good in their previous lives, then they get to meet with Vaishnavs. So, beause king Subarna Sen had some previous sukriti, he got to meet with Narad Muni. One day, Narad Muni, playing his vina and chanting kirtan, came to Subarna Sen's palace. King Subarna Sen had some Vaishnav qualities, so when he saw Narad Muni, he welcomed him with much respect and worshipped him. During his visit, Narad Muni instructed the king in the true position of all things and spoke Hari-katha, as a result of which renunciation arose in the heart of the king. This is the result of sadhu-sanga—although Subarna Sen was a materialistic king, he at once became detached from all material things. He also got to know from Narad Muni that in Kali-yuga, Lord Sri Krishna would appear here in Mayapur, Nabadwip (near Subarna Bihar, the place where the king lived), in His combined form of Radha-Krishna as Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu. This place here is also Nabadwip—Nabadwip is not only the Paramatala area. Nabadwip mean nine (nava) islands (dwip), and we have come today to Godrumdwip. Narad Muni told king Subarna Sen that Gaura Hari would appear and perform many pastimes in this place in Kali-yuga. Hearing the glories of the Lord from Narad Muni, the king became overcome with divine love and kept saying, "When will I get such fortune? When will this Lord Gaura Hari appear with His associates?" The seed of material attachment within Subarna Sen was gradually destroyed after Narad Muni's visit and hearing about the glory of Mahaprabhu. The king kept dancing overwhelmed with divine love and chanting, "Gauranga! Gauranga!" Then, one day he had the fortune to see a dream: Gaura-Gadadhar with Their associates were dancing, chanting Hare Krishna and embracing each other in the courtyard of Subarna Sen's house. The King could see that the Lord had the golden colour. Then suddenly his dream broke off. When the king woke up, he became afflicted with severe separation—repeating, "Gaura! Gaura!" he began to cry. Nitai Gaura premanande Hari bol! We sing a kirtan about Gaura Hari's appearance in Kali-yuga:
শ্রীকৃষ্ণচৈতন্য প্রভু জীবে দয়া করি' ।
sri-krsna-chaitanya prabhu jive daya kari' "Being merciful to the souls, Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu descends with His associates and abode." Those who performed pastimes with Krishna in other ages have now come again with Gauranga Mahaprabhu—they are all Radharani's and Krishna's very own devotees. When Gaura Hari appeared in Gauda Mandal in Kali-yuga, King Subarna Sen also came as Buddhimanta Khan. He lived in Bardhaman and installed a Deity there. I have been there when was preaching in that area. Buddhimanta Khan worshipped and served Mahaprabhu in various ways and instructed others in the Lord's service. This Subarna Bihar here is the place of that king Subarna Sen. Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur established this temple here.
