(1/1) Vrindavan Das Thakur's Sripat His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We have come now to the last place of our parikrama today. This is the birthplace of Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur. You took prasad and went away – who will take this offence from you? If you come here but do not visit Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur's place, who will remove your offence? Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur is not an ordinary person! He is a servitor of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu. You come to his place, but you only eat and go away, you do not come to his holy feet, this offence will go to Nityananda Prabhu, who is non-different from Sri Guru (you will be committing an offence to Nityananda Prabhu, or gurudev). How many times I have repeated to you, 'Take prasad and come here.' Even if the bus leaves, I will bring ten more buses! You do not need to worry about it. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur composed a kirtan in glorification of Sriman Nityananda Prabhu (you can find it in Sri Nityananda-mahimarita): 'Nitai amara dayara avadhi'. When we went to Mayapur yesterday, and there we visited Srivas Pandit's house. There, I told you that Srivas Pandit's niece, Narayani (Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur's mother), was married here. There was Malini Devi's house in this area, so Srivas Pandit and Malini Devi arranged Narayani's marriage ceremony here. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur is a very dear servitor of Nityananda Prabhu. When Nityananda Prabhu and Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur were passing Denur, a village near Bamunpara, Nityananda Prabhu kept Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur there. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur installed the Deities of Gaura-Nityananda there, in Denur. You come to this area and instead of coming to the temple go straight to the buses... We used to walk from here back to the temple many years, but now we have brought you in buses so that you do not have to walk so much. But instead of coming to this holy place, you go and sit in the bus. How offensive this is! I told you all to take prasad and come here – I let you all eat first, and only after you finished, I ate something. But you ate and went to sit in the bus... [His Divine Grace chants the kirtan.]
আরে ভাই! নিতাই আমার দয়া অবধি!
are bhai! nitai amara dayara avadhi! 'Brother! My Nitai is the extremity of mercy! Bestowing mercy on souls, He roams from place to place, endlessly begging everyone to take divine love for the Lord.'
অদ্বৈতের সঙ্গে রঙ্গ, ধরণে না যায় অঙ্গ,
advaitera sange ranga, dharane na yaya anga, 'Rejoicing in the company of Advaita, being unable to maintain His composure, He begins to roll on the ground, overcome with divine love for Gora. He staggers as He walks, chanting, ‘Hari bol!' with upraised arms, tears streaming from His eyes.'
কপালে তিলক শোভে, কুটিল-কুন্তল-লোলে,
kapale tilaka sobhe, kutila-kuntala-lole, 'His forehead is adorned with a tilak mark, His curling locks sway to and fro, with a bun tied on top of His head with a string gunja seeds. His waist, resembling that of a lion, is adorned with a blue dhoti, and there are anklebells tinkling joyfully on His feet.'
কে কহু নিতাইর গুণ, জীবে দেখি সকরুণ,
ke kahu nitaira guna, jive dekhi sakaruna, 'Whom shall I tell about Nitai's qualities? Seeing jiva souls and feeling deep compassion, Nitai delivered this world through the Holy Name. Those who, blinded by Cupid's intoxicating charm, still had some doubt about it did not worship this Nitai.'
ভুবনমোহন বেশ ! মজাইল সব দেশ !
bhuvana-mohana vesa! majaila saba desa! 'Dressed in a way that attracts and charms the entire universe, He captures everyone with His beauty, wherever He goes! Overcome with ecstatic devotion, He roars with laughter! My Lord Nityananda is the root of pure happiness. Vrindavan Das is singing about His glory.' So, we are leaving now this holy temple (sripat) and birthplace (janmasthan) of Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur. Prabhupad Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur established this temple here in Mamgachi within Modadrumdwip. Modadrumdwip is a place of dasya-rasa, transcendental servitude to the Lord, the mood that we must always think about as we are all menial servants of the Lord, menial servants of our gurudev. You come to this Modadrumdwip and go to sit in the bus – whom can I tell my sadness?... You came by bus and will go back by bus. What is there to worry about? [There is another party at the temple that persists with a very loud programme, not letting His Divine Grace speak, so His Divine Grace abruptly concludes his holy address.]
