(1/2) Jagadananda Pandit's Nature His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
All devotees should offer their obeisance and give some donation here, please. This is Srila Jagadananda Pandit's bhajan-kutir. Srila Jagadananda Pandit wrote a very beautiful scripture called Sri Prema-Vivarta. We have published it from our Math – it came out very nicely, together in English and Bengali. She who was Satyabhama in the pastimes of Lord Krishna in Dvapar-yuga came as Srila Jagadananda Pandit in Gauranga Mahaprabhu's pastimes. Srila Jagadananda Pandit's character of that was vamya-svabhav, or leftist (বাম্য, vamya, quarrelsome). It means that he was very straightforward with Mahaprabhu – he knew, 'You are Krishna who has come as Gauranga Mahaprabhu in this Kali-yuga, stealing Radharani's heart and halo. Now You have taken sannyas and walk barefoot, sleeping anywhere and anyhow, performing many various pastimes. I cannot stand this sight of Your austerities.' Such was Jagadananda Pandit's nature. He was a very good cook, so he would sometimes cook and forcefully feed Mahaprabhu. He would also sometimes fight with Mahaprabhu, but he was a extremely dear to Mahaprabhu. It will take long to describe their pastimes in detail, so I will only speak briefly now; we can talk about the rest when we come back to the temple. So, Srila Jagadananda Pandit composed a scripture called Sri Prema-Vivarta (Transformations of Divine Love). There, he described what is actually 'prema', or love. [His Divine Grace chants the 'Jaya Radha Madhava' kirtan and then continues speaking.] One time, Srila Jagadananda Pandit had a fight with Mahaprabhu. That day, coming home late in the evening, Mahaprabhu asked His mother Sachi Mata, 'Mother, has My small brother come?' Sachi Mata replied, 'Why, no, he has not.' Then, Mahaprabhu took a kind of a lantern and went out to look for him. When He came to the Ganges, He saw Jagadananda Pandit sitting on the bank quietly. Mahaprabhu put His hand on the back of Jagadananda Pandit's neck and told him lovingly, 'Brother, come with Me. I have been wrong, I will not say anything again. Come with Me now.' Nimai took Jagadananda Pandit home, and Sachi Mata fed the two boys. The next day, they went to school together and after that Mahaprabhu sent Jagadananda Pandit back to his home.
