Lord's Keen Kindness His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
...When you worship the Lord, you must dress the Lordships well, you must offer good food to the Lord, etc. This is service. We must engage ourselves in the service of the Lord, and the Lord, whose appearance day we have come to observe tomorrow, is very merciful. Recently, on the appearance day of Lord Baladev, I spoke about Lord Baladev. Baladev means Gurudev. There is a long story about Vasudev. In short, he has two wives, Devaki and Rohini—Krishna appeared from the womb of Devaki, and Balaram from the womb of Rohini. They are one body but manifest in two forms. Nanda Maharaj also had a son, but there was a miscarriage, so that soul left and, instead, Krishna appeared from Devaki's womb at 12 a.m. in the prison of Kamsa. There was so much rain, so much storm that night, there was water everywhere, and Anantadev came to protect Vasudev from the rain with his hood. Another time, when Krishna lifted Govardhan, Anantadev also expanded himself as a huge umbrella making sure that no harm is done to all those living at Govardhan—everything was flooded at that time, but not the Govardhan area of Vrindavan. Once, Pulastya Muni wanted to take Govardhan to Kasi (Benares), and as he was carrying Govardhan there, he was passing Vrindavan on the way. Govardhan thought, "Krishna will come here, then why will I leave a beautiful place like this?" Initially, when Govardhan climbed onto Pulastya Muni's hand, Govardhan told Pulastya Muni, "If you put Me down anywhere on the way, I will not go further." So, when they came to Vrindavan and Govardhan decided He wanted to stay there, Govardhan gave so much pressure to Pulastya Muni's hand that he could not but put Him down. Pulastya Muni put Govardhan down and went to take bath, but when he returned and wanted to pick Govardhan up again to continue their way, Govardhan did not budge. That is why Pulastya Muni cursed Govardhan that every day He would become smaller by the size of one sesame seed. So, Govardhan is even now becoming smaller by the size of one sesame every day. Govardhan will be there for as long as sadhus stay at the Yamuna... ...One day, Krishna, Balaram and Their friends went out to herd the cows. After a while, the cowherd boys got very hungry and asked Krishna to get something to eat. Krishna sent Balaram and another cowherd boy to some brahmans who were doing a fire sacrifice at that time. Vraja-basis do not know who Krishna is, they take Krishna as one of them, a child of their village. So, when the Lord Himself (Balaram is the Lord, He is non-different from Krishna) approached them for some food asking, "Give us some chapati, please! Krishna is very hungry, and we are hungry too! You are doing the yajna, give us something!" But the brahmans only got angry, scolded them and told them to go away. He who owns everything in this world comes to beg! This shows how eager the Lord is to give an opportunity to His devotees to do some service. He accepts everything from His devotees—
ভক্তের জিনিষ প্রভু লুটিপুটি খায়
bhakter jinish prabhu lutiputi khay "The Lord eats anything and everything when a devotee offers it, but He does not take anything from a non-devotee." The Lord does not want anything from non-devotees, and non-devotees actually cannot give anything to the Lord...
