Six Qualities

Bhakti-anukul, what is favourable to devotion, means you have (1) enthusiasm for devotion. You always enthusiastic to do devotional activities—to cook, to do puja, to chant kirtans or do any other service. You are always enthusiastic (utsaha). Whenever there is some festival, an appearance or disappearance day of our Guru-varga, Janmastami, Radhastami, or any other festival, you always want to arrange something on this day.

(2) Nischaya guna means drdha visvas, the strongest faith. If you have a strongest faith in the Lord, it is a good quality (guna).

(3) Dhairya means tolerance (sahisnu). Those who have much tolerance and much patience can conquer the whole world. It is necessary to have patience.

(4) Always make festivals, always give something to those who come, always cook and do good for others. Preach, chant kirtans. These are our main activities. You must attachment (asakti) to service.

(5) Asat-sanga tyag. Always avoid bad association, always ignore such association. Always ignore it.

And (6) you must learn from sadhus—you must see how a sadhu passes his days, what activities he engages in and do that too. You must try to follow it. For example, you can hear how Gurudev glorifies his Guru Maharaj and you can try to follow that.

ভজনে উৎসাহ যার ভিতরে বাহিরে ।
সুদুর্ল্লভ কৃষ্ণভক্তি পাবে ধীরে ধীরে ॥

bhajane utsaha yara bhitare bahire,
sudurlabha krsna-bhakti pabe dhire dhire

"Those who are enthusiastic to practise Krishna consciousness within their heart and in their behaviour, gradually get devotion to Krishna which is otherwise extremely rare to attain."

Those who have enthusiasm for chanting the Holy Name, for doing service and other devotional activities, who like to serve devotees in various ways, they will gradually get devotion to Krishna (Krishna-bhakti).

Those who have the strongest faith in the Lord are called sraddha-vana-jana, and they are the perfect persons for the practice of Krishna consciousness, for the worship of the Lord.
