(1/1) Sri Imlitala His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
We are continuing our parikrama by the mercy of Sri Gurupadpadma. As each year, we always start from here – this place is called Imlitala ('imli' means 'tamarind'). The tamarind tree you see growing here is new. The old tree that Mahaprabhu visited and sat under left its body a few years ago, and only its bark is left now. You can still see it over there. Do you remember what pastime took place here? You must know it.
শ্রীরাধায়াঃ প্রণয়মহিমা কীদৃশো বানয়ৈবা-
sri-radhayah pranaya-mahima kidrso vanayaivasvadyo '"What is that great glory of Sri Radha's love? What is My extraordinary loving sweetness and charm that Sri Radha enjoys? And what is the joy Sri Radha feels by experiencing My sweetness and charm?" Yearning to taste these three sentiments, the moon—Krishna-chandra—was born from the ocean of the womb of mother Sachi.' (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.1.6) One day, sitting on the bank of the Yamuna under this tree (the river used to flow right here before), Lord Sri Krishna saw His reflection in the water and thought, 'Gosh, I am so beautiful! Why does Radharani cry so much chanting My Name? What sort of happiness does She feel when She is serving Me? I must taste this transcendental ecstasy!' This is how, taking Radharani's heart and halo, Lord Sri Krishna appeared in Kali-yuga as Gauranga Mahaprabhu, a combined form of Radha and Krishna. When He stayed in Jagannath Puri during His later pastimes, He relished the divine mood of Srimati Radharani that She exhibits when She cries for Krishna. Mahaprabhu also came and sat under this tree. Our Param Guru Maharaj's godbrother and sannyas-disciple, Pujyapad Om Vishnupad Srila Bhakti Saranga Goswami Maharaj took care of this place and opened here this temple. Just as we always first go to his temple (Nandan Acharya Bhavan) in Nabadwip when we start our parikrama, we do the same here. Now we will offer our obeisances here and then commence our five-crosh parikrama of Sri Vrindavan Dham.
