Continuing our parikrama today, you have visited various temples. Unfortunately, my health is not good today because it was very cold today. Actually, I started feeling unwell yesterday, but I could not stay behind and leave you all. But this afternoon I could not manage to go out again. I had told you that we would go to the temples of Banki Bihari and Sri Madan-mohan (Srila Sanatan Goswami's temple and samadhi-mandir) as well as Sri Advaitavat, but I could not make it. All these places are very close to our temple. If you are staying here for a few more days, I can take you there on another day. (Please remember that some of you are taking a train on 6 November because it was not possible to get tickets on the same day (7 November) for everybody.) When we first went to Nidhuvan earlier today, I told you that about Sri Haridas Das, the guru of Tansen. Tansen was a renowned singer, famed for such a sweet voice that when he read scriptures or sing songs, it would start raining. This famous singer Tansen had a guru, Haridas who once found the Deity of Sri Banki-bihari in Nidhuvan. Usually there is a very dense crowd at the temple of Banki-bihari. If you can get there, you can go and see the temple. It is very near. Walk straight past Seva Kunja until a crossroad, then turn right and walk straight again. Yesterday, when we were on the churasi parikrama, we went past Dvadasatila where the temple of Sri Madan-mohan is. It is a very high hill. You all know that when Muslim kings came to power, especially King Aurangzeb, they could not tolerate seeing Hindu temple's domes, that is why they started breaking temples. You have seen at the temple of Sri Govindaji today that the temple does not have the upper part – it was broken by Muslims. All the Deities were taken away by the pujaris to other, safer places (Jaipur, Karauli, etc.). Only Sri Radha-Raman is a small Deity, so the pujari was able to keep Him secretly here. Srila Sanatan Goswami stayed at Dvadasatila, a very high hill. 'Dvadasa' means twelve. Why 'twelve'? When we went on the parikrama yesterday and visited Kaliya Daha, I told you about the fierce fight between Krishna and Kaliyanag in the lake. When Krishna defeated the serpent, Mother Yasoda was very worried about Him. She is a mother, she did not think that Krishna was the Supreme Lord, that nothing could ever happend to Him – for her, He was her son. So, because Krishna had spent so much time in the cold water of the lake, she brought Him up a hill so that He could get warmed up in the sun (the heat is stronger on top of the hill). Actually, in Vrindavan winters are very cold and summers are very hot. In the summer, what to speak of coming outside, it is hard to even stay indoors. The ceiling fans have to work throughout the day. The sun is very strong here. So, when Mother Yasoda took Krishna up the hill, the sun give so much heat that it was equivalent to twelve suns' heat. As the result, there started a wild forest fire in Vrindavan. All the Vraja-basis panicked at the sight of the red flames everywhere. Seeing their anxiety, Krishna ate all fire! Later, Mother Yasoda brought some hot milk for her son, 'Baby, come and drink this milk!' When Krishna took a sip of that milk, He exclaimed, 'Ouch! It is so hot!' 'What? This milk is very hot?' Mother Yasoda asked. 'But I saw You eating fire earlier today! How did You tolerate the fire's heat then?' 'Oh... Mother, you have seen it?' 'Yes, I have!' 'Do not tell anyone about it!' This is the pastime that happened there.
