(2) Highest Acceptance
His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
gurudev! O Gurudev! Please give a drop of your mercy and make this servant very humble, humbler than a blade of grass. Please give me the power to tolerate everything and to be free from any selfish desires.
sakale sammana, karite sakati, Master! Give me the strength to give everyone appropriate honour, then I will happily chant the Holy Name and all my offences will be destroyed.
kabe hena krpa, labhiya e jana, When will this soul get such mercy and become successful? I have no strength, no intelligence, I am very poor. Please hijack me!
yogyata vichare, kichhu nahi pai, I find no quality or qualification within me – your mercy is everything. If I do not get your mercy, I will simply weep to death.
sri-krsna-chaitanya prabhu jive daya kari’ Bestowing His mercy on jiva souls, Sri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu descends with His associates and abode.
atyanta durlabha prema karibare dana To distribute the rarest form of divine love, He teaches surrender, which is the life and soul of devotees.
dainya, atma-nivedana, goptrtve varana (1) Humility, (2) self-submission, (3) accepting that the Lord is your maintainer, (4) keeping faith that ‘Krishna will certainly protect’.
bhakti-anukula matra karyera svikara (5) Accepting only what is favourable to devotion and (6) rejecting what is unfavourable to devotion.
sad-anga saranagati haibe yanhara Lord Krishna hears the prayers of those who surrender to Him in these six ways.
rupa-sanatana-pade dante trna kari’ With a straw between his teeth, Bhaktivinod falls before Rupa and Sanatan, clasping their feet.
kandiya kandiya bale, ami ta’ adhama Crying bitterly, he prays, ‘I am a wretched soul! Please grant me the highest qualification by teaching me surrender.’ You have heard us sing in this kirtan that Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu came to give this world the rarest divine love. When Lord Krishna came in Dvapar-yuga, He performed His pastimes with many associates, and when He appeared in Kali-yuga as Gauranga Mahaprabhu, a combined form of Sri Sri Radha-Krishna, all His associates came, too. Coming to this world, Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu taught everybody surrender, the very life and soul of devotees. Surrender is the main thing, it is the very core of devotees' lives. It is necessary to have a very strong faith in your guru.
'শ্রদ্ধা' শব্দে—বিস্বাস কহে সুদৃঢ় নিশ্চয় ।
‘sraddha’-sabde visvasa kahe sudrdha nischaya ‘Sraddha is a firm, determined faith that by serving Krishna all actions are accomplished.’ (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.62) If the disciple cannot behold the Lord within their guru and if the guru cannot behold the Lord within his disciple, there can be no guru–disciple relation between them. The knowledge of the relationship is the main thing. Madan-mohan is the Deity of this sambandha (relationship). Govinda is the Deity of abhidheya (practice), and Radha-Gopinath is the Deity of prayojan (the ultimate goal). If you can go to Jaipur, you can see all these three Deities there. Original Madan-mohan went to Karauli, but Govindaji and Gopinath are there in Jaipur. In Vrindavan, there is also Radha-Raman. Of course, there are other Deities in Vrindavan, but the original Deities whom Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Sanatan Goswami and other goswamis served went to Karauli and Jaipur. So, the Deity of sambandha-jnana is Madan-mohan, and this knowledge of the relationship is central when it comes to gurudev. When can you say that you have reached the highest stage of acceptance? When you feel irresistible attraction, or spiritual love, towards your guru. 'When will I come to him? When will I get to see him? When will I get to hear him speak? When will I get to speak about him?' This is kind of internal pull and attraction must be there. When I spoke yesterday, I told you that you must take out all other things from your hearts and give the Lord place to sit there. That is why Srila Sridhar Maharaj always sang:
বিষয় ছাড়িয়া কবে শুদ্ধ হ'বে মন ।
visaya chhadiya kabe suddha ha’be mana 'When will my mind reject this material world and everything in it and become pure? When will I behold Sri Vrindavan?' ('Prarthana', Srila Narottam Das Thakur) 'When will material life leave me and my heart become pure? When will this material agony end? When will my heart become free from these worries about my family life?' How will that happen? There is a wild forest fire burning within our hearts, and if you always chant the Holy Name, you can get some peace. Even when you are amist so many problems and quarrels, you must not have any material thoughts – instead, always chant the Holy Name. Even those who have not taken initiation can do it; it is not a problem. They can do it, too. You can chant all the time, 'Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.' You can sit and use your knuckles to count. Try it and you will see that you will feel peace. This Holy Name is a trascendental sound vibration, so when you chant this holy sound, some power will descend into you.
