(7) Serve Gurudev's Family

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Bhanjipur, 2 December 2019, noon, part 7
Translated from Bengali

When somebody takes shelter in gurudev, gurudev enrols themselves in Krishna's family. Therefore, gurudev says, 'We are making Krishna’s family and collecting fuel for His enjoyment. Come in, join us!' Only a great guru can create a family of Krishna. Bhajananandi gurus practise Krishna consciousness on their own – they stay alone, so how can they save others? Such gurus go to Vrindavan or Haridwar and sit there quietly, chanting the Holy Name on their own; they do their own practice, it is well and good, but what are all the other people in this world to do? How can they get rescued? Bhajananandi gurus do not do anything for common people. There are also gosthanandi gurus – they go door to door, approaching everybody so that others can practise Krishna consciousness. They try to bring people to this line.

You can chant the Holy Name of Krishna, you can chant kirtans, but unless you enter Krishna's family, what will become of you? Gurudev comes and calls us, 'Come, come! Come to my family.' Unless you enter this family of Lord Krishna, even if you chant millions of Holy Names with offences, your anarthas will never go away. Many people chant the Holy Name, but do they get any result? Do you think you can only chant the Holy Name and go to Goloka or Vaikuntha like that? You must enter your guru's family, you must serve your guru's house, then you can quickly reach Goloka Vrindavan. Always remember this.

There is one trade secret in Krishna consciousness. Some think, 'I will not live in the guru’s family. I will only come to take something from my guru.' This is not right. You have got a lot from your gurudev, but unless you serve your gurudev's house, you will not get any result. So, come. Come and enter gurudev's family.

Gurudev performs maha-sankirtan (grand sankirtan), maha-archan (grand worship), maha-parikrama (grand circumambulation of the holy places). Connect with him and all the unwanted elements within your heart (anarthas) will go away. If you can, by hook or by crook, give your mind and heart to the service of your guru, you will get supreme benefit.

Everybody is looking for a job, and gurudev has opened a factory – come and work for him at his factory. There is no lack of clothes, food or anything else in his factory. If you can join this grand factory, you can attain everything. The only problem is that we are not able to join it, we are not able to get service there. Unless you take part in that service, unless you serve your guru's house, you will not get any particular benefit. Sri Gaurasundar has told us this. Following His desire, following His inspiration, I am telling you now about this sacred mystery of spiritual practice. Remember it.

The Lord can do anything. 'Kartavya na akartavya anya ta kartama (কর্ত্তব্য না অকর্ত্তব্য অন্য ত কর্তম)': He can cancel that which is to happen, He can do that which is not to happen, or He can decide to do something completely different, too...

Squandering Your Fortune
'If you want to have some business, you need capital, but if every day you lose your capital, you will end up bankrupt. Because you have some previous sukriti you are now staying in the temple, but if every day you lose that sukriti, one day your balance will become zero.'

Preaching is necessary, but preaching for whom? Preaching for the Guru.
