We will not waste our time on prajalpa.

গ্রাম্যকথা না শুনিবে, গ্রাম্যবার্ত্তা না কহিবে ।
ভাল না খাইবে আর ভাল না পরিবে ॥
অমানী মানদ হঞা কৃষ্ণনাম সদা ল'বে ।
ব্রজে রাধাকৃষ্ণ সেবা মানসে করিবে ॥

gramya-katha na sunibe, gramya-varta na kahibe
bhala na khaibe ara bhala na paribe
amani manada hana krsna-nama sada la'be
vraje radha-krsna seva manase karibe

"Do not listen to the mundane talks, do not listen to the mundane news. Do not eat fancy food, do not wear fancy clothes. Do not expect honour to yourself, but offer all respect to others. Always chant the Holy Name of Krsna, and in your mind serve Radha-Krsna."

This is Sriman Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's advice to us, and you must follow this instruction. Always avoid prajalpa (gossiping, idle talks), para-ninda (abusing others), para-charcha (criticising others).

ভক্তি-অনুকূল মাত্র কার্য্যের স্বীকার ।
ভক্তি-প্রতিকূল ভাব—বর্জ্জনাঙ্গীকার ॥

bhakti-anukula matra karyera svikara
bhakti-pratikula bhava—varjanangikara

"Engage only in activities that are favourable to devotion, reject everything unfavourable to devotion."

You must do what is favourable to devotion, but if you in the meantime also do what is unfavourable to devotion, then you will not get any result. You must do what is favourable to devotion and at the same time you must also reject what is unfavourable to devotion. Always avoid unfavourable things.

Srila Visvanath Chakravarti Thakur writes,

সাক্ষাদ্ধরিত্বেন সমস্ত-শাস্ত্রৈ-
রুক্তস্তথা ভাব্যত এব সদ্ভিঃ ।
কিন্তু প্রভোর্যঃ প্রিয় এব তস্য
বন্দে গুরোঃ শ্রীচরণারবিন্দম্ ॥

saksadd-haritvena samasta-sastrair
uktas tatha bhavyata eva sadbhih
kintu prabhor yah priya eva tasya
vande guroh sri-charanaravindam

"I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, who is said by all the scriptures to be the Lord Himself, and considered to be so by the sadhus, yet is also the Lord's beloved devotee."

যস্য প্রসাদাদ্ভগবৎ-প্রসাদো
যস্যাপ্রসাদান্ন গতিঃ কুতোঽপি ।
ধ্যায়ং স্তুবংস্তস্য যশস্ত্রিসন্ধ্যং
বন্দে গুরোঃ শ্রীচরণারবিন্দম্ ॥

yasya prasadad bhagavat-prasado
yasyaprasadat na gatih kuto 'pi
dhyayam stuvams tasya yasas tri-sandhyam
vande guroh sri-charanaravindam

"I offer my obeisance unto the lotus feet of Sri Guru, praising and meditating upon his glory at the three junctions of the day. By his grace, one gains the Lord's grace. Without his grace, one has no shelter anywhere."

(Sri Sri Gurvastakam, 7-8)

You can have everything, but if you have no mercy of Gurudev, if you have no good connection with Gurudev, if you have no proper attitude to your Gurudev, then you have nothing. You can be doing everything, but actually you are doing nothing. On the other hand, you may not be doing anything, but if you have a good relationship with your guru, if you have a good connection with your guru—that is sufficient for your spiritual life.

So, you must try to maintain your spiritual life. Practise every day, maintain your practising life. This is the main thing. People will not listen to what you tell them because they have too much attachment to family life and to materialist life—this is why they cannot sacrifice anything. But you must sacrifice your life for your guru. This is the main thing—that is called saranagati (surrender). You must sacrifice your life for your guru, for Vaishnavs and Bhagavan.
