(1/7) Increase Glory of Temple His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
You should print and distribute books. Print every book and distribute them. The first book should be In Search of the Original Source. If you can translate it into Hindi, it will be good. Hundreds of thousands of people come to Ganga Sagar every year: you can even make a store and sell books, neck beads. In this way, you can help the temple. Before, it was hard to feed people, but now there is this opportunity. Some people come here all the way from Bihar and other remote states; some even come by helicopters. A temple is meant for preaching. When devotees stay at the temple, they must preach the whole day. If you only stay here and go to bathe in the Ganges, then you will only get some punya (material piety) for yourself. It means that you have desires—you desire enjoyment, liberation or some perfections.
কৃষ্ণভক্ত—নিষ্কাম, অতএব 'শান্ত' ।
krsna-bhakta—niskama, ataeva 'santa' "A devotee of Krishna has no desires and is always peaceful. Those who have material desires, desire for liberation or desire for some perfection are always lusty and never know any peace." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, Madhya-lila, 19.149) Justas Kapila Muni came here a long time ago to attain some mystic perfection, people come here from all over India to fulfil their desires. Vaishnavs have no place here. That is actually why neither Prabhupad nor Mahaprabhu came here. But we have made a temple here for preaching because the main thing is jive daya—being merciful to other souls. It is necessary to preach. We do not come to open pakora shops—we come to preach and beat the brihat mridanga by printing and distributing books. You should go to preach at the mela in the morning. Come back to take prasad and go for preaching again. This is what our parikrama of Ganga Sagar is. Everyone should take books and go for preaching. Take a hundred books (for example, Gurudev's book Original Source) and distribute them. This is preaching, and this is a great service to Mahaprabhu. Many temples come to the mela, make big pandals, but what do they get by doing that? You must think how you can increase the glory of the temple. You must preach for the temple nicely, beautifully. Anyhow, you have already chanted many kirtans, so I will not chant much. I will chant only one kirtan that contains some personal expressions. Gurudev always told me to sing it... [His Divine Grace chants 'Amara jivana sada pape rata'.]
