Be Exclusive and One-Pointed His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
I told it to you before, and I am telling it to you now also: you cannot do two things at a time. Suppose you are doing a fire sacrifice (yajna)—for the fire to burn, you must put ghee into the fire, but if you put one spoon of ghee and then one spoon of water, and then again one spoon of ghee and one spoon of water, can you do a fire sacrifice like this? Will the fire burn? It will not. Spiritual life is also like that. You must serve your Guru, Vaishnavs and the Lord with one-pointed, exclusive sincerity and determination. Your mind must be pointed in one direction. You can see the many people worship Durga, Laksmi, Kali, Ganesh, Jagannath, Krishna and all kinds of other Gods at their homes. Have you seen this? I have seen it many times. People create museums of Gods and Deities at their homes. They want to please everyone, but is it possible to please 330,000,000 demigods? That is why you should only practise Krishna consciousness.
একলা ঈশ্বর কৃষ্ণ, আর সব ভৃত্য ।
ekala isvara krsna, ara saba bhrtya "Lord Krishna is the only supreme controller, and all others are His servants. They dance as He makes them do so." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 1.5.142) You must understand:
'শ্রদ্ধা' শব্দে—বিস্বাস কহে সুদৃঢ় নিশ্চয় ।
'sraddha'-sabde—visvasa kahe sudrdha nischaya "Sraddha is a firm, determined faith that by serving Krishna all actions are accomplished." (Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.62) Your debt to your father, mother, rishis (sages), demigods—all debts are cleared if you serve the Lord. Many say, "Oh, you left your father and mother alone," but if you serve the Lord, your debt to your father, mother, sages, demigods and all other kinds of debts are cleared. Always remember this. You must practise spiritual life in a pure way. Your mind is very fickle and naughty, but if you want to control your mind, you must practise Krishna consciousness. If you delay and do not do it timely, you will gradually grow old and you will not be able to practise. Those who say they will practise later are cheating the Lord. One time, Srila Prabhupad was asked, "Are they all your disciples?" Srila Prabhupad replied, "One does not become a disciple just by taking the mantra." If somebody only takes initiation, it does not mean they are a disciple. Real disciples are those who follow the order of Gurudev placing it on their heads (with full respect and reverence). "I do not understand what is good for me or what is bad for me—I will live the way Gurudev tells me to live." It is necessary to think like this and to have this kind of chastity. Every single one of us must have chastity and sincerity. Be one-pointed. We have no other way except service to our Guru and the Lord. How can we please our Guru? How can we please the Lord? The Lord is pleased through a guru, His dearmost associate, so if we can take shelter of a bona fide guru and practise Krishna consciousness, then we will attain genuine benefit. This is what is actually called Krishna consciousness, or worship of the Lord (bhajan). If you practise Krishna consciousness, you yourself will feel happiness also. We always want something, we always have desires, but the real happiness means getting that by getting which you will not want to have anything else. You must come to the Lord—if you get the Lord, if you see the Lord, if you serve the Lord, you will not have to do anything else. If you think about the Lord and glorify the Lord, you do not need to glorify or think about anyone else. If we can spend this life glorifying our Guru, Vaishnavs and the Lord, we will get spiritual benefit. There is no other way. Therefore, we must all engage ourselves in the service of our Guru, Vaishnavs, and the Lord. Jay Srila Guru Maharaj ki jay. It is late now, and it is cold outside, we should finish now. Come tomorrow in the morning. I told Sripad Rama Prabhu that there is no point struggling and walking a lot tomorrow. As it is, you have been doing parikramas all your lives—you come for Kartik parikrama, Nabadwip Dham parikrama, Puri Dham parikrama and walked a lot too. So, you can do a short parikrama tomorrow, otherwise people will walk till eleven o'clock, get tired and go to their homes. Later, they come for prasad. Nobody will hear the most important part (the class). So, come tomorrow early in the morning, do a short parikrama, and we will spend most of the time speaking Hari-katha. Please come in the morning. Do not think that it is nine or ten o'clock now, and it is time to take prasad—Hari-katha is the real prasad. This is what you must always come eagerly in front for. It is Sunday tomorrow—the courts are closed, offices are closed, it is a day off. If you have some trouble or have had a fight with somebody, you always talk about all such things in your rooms, but you can come here and listen about the Lord. This is a temple—come and listen to some Hari-katha in front of the Lord, it will give you supreme benefit. Jealousy, other things, other talks—all this belongs to other places, but when you come to the Lord and to your Guru, come to hear and speak about the Lord, it will give you a great benefit. Jay Srila Guru Maharaj ki jay. [His Divine Grace chants 'Hari Haraye Nama Krsna', recited Sri Jaya Dhvani and concludes the evening class.]
