(10/16) Eternal Nourishment

His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Temple inauguration programme, Hooghly
26 January 2020, noon, part 10
Translated from Bengali

When jiva souls worship the Lord and hear the discourses about the Lord in devotees' association, they mould their devotional natures. Then they get the seed of devotional creeper.

This seed of devotion actually means satisfying the Lord. By the mercy of pure saintly persons, devotees should water this seed with the water of sravan and kirtan (hearing and chanting) — then their taste for the discourses about Krishna will grow day by day. When the taste comes, you will be able to easily progress on the path of devotion. Hari-katha is the embodiment of the life force of devotees—when this taste comes, your vision will not go to any other place. To bring out such devotional character, it is not necessary to go to school, to practise karma, jnana, renunciation, etc.—such qualifications do not bring the right for devotion. If you have no taste for Hari-katha, then all your erudition, wealth, followers, renunciation, etc. are useless; whereas if you have taste for Hari-katha, then you can climb the wish-fulfilling tree of the lotus feet of Sri Krishna following the steps of practising devotion, affectionate devotion, loving devotion (sadhana-bhakti, bhava-bhakti, prema-bhakti). The root that the love for Krishna springs from is good association (sadhu-sanga).

krsna-bhakti-janma-mula haya 'sadhu-sanga'
krsna-prema janme, tenho punah mukhya anga

"Sadhu-sanga, good association, is what the devotion to Krishna is ultimately born from; even when the highest love for Krishna is born, good association remains the principle part of the devotee's life."

(Sri Chaitanya-charitamrita, 2.22.80)

[His Divine Grace chants 'Emona durmati samsara bhitare' and 'Jaya Radha Madhava'.]

Sanatan-siksa: The Path to the Supreme Goal
'Now hear about the fruit of devotion—prema, the ultimate goal of life. Deep attachment to Krishna grows into what is called love. This prema is the goal of life, the abode of all possible joy and happiness.' It all begins with sukriti..

A scientist named Newton said that every action has equal and opposite reaction,
but we do not want to give opposite reaction. It is not our duty to give it.
