His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
Srila Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj
Basirhat, 27 January 2020, part 4
Translated from Bengali

Maya Devi gives them some trifle things that keep them forgetful. As a result, we do not even know what is the real wealth. We only know to run behind money, wealth, houses, cars. When Gurudev gave you initiation, he gave you a ticket to Vrindavan; but if you get on the train and get off somewhere in the middle, then you will not get to Vrindavan. On the other hand, if you drive a car very fast, you can get into an accident in the middle of the way, then all your journey will be over. You rush forward but if you leave your service to the Lord in the middle of the way—if you become cheated out of service—then it is not the Lord's fault. The fault is yours. Because of your faults—as a result of offences to service, offences to Vaishnavs, offences to the Holy Name, offences to the holy abode—you are becoming deprived of service. You think that it will not continue without you, but the Lord has many ways of getting His service done. If you tell Gurudev, "I am doing this, and nothing will be done without me," but Gurudev is Baladev, he serves Gaura Hari with ten hands. Baladev serves Lord Krishna with ten bodies. Therefore, nobody can stop service to Vaishnavs and the Lord. Yet we are overcome with ego—we are overcome with misconception, that is why we think, "It will not be done without me." Many think like this, but it is very bad.

Remember one thing. It is necessary to have patience, it is necessary to always have tolerance. "O Lord, give me suffering. I want to suffer! I want troubles! The more austerity You give me, the more my power of tolerance will be." And we must pray to Gurudev, "Please give me the strength, the power to tolerate."

তৃণাধিক হীন দীন অকিঞ্চন ছার ।
আপনে মানবি সদা ছাড়ি অহঙ্কার ॥

trnadhika hina, dina, akinchana chhara
apane manabi sada chhadi ahankara

Give up your false ego, and always consider yourself lower than grass, poor, needy, and mean.

বৃক্ষসম ক্ষমাগুণ করবি সাধন ।
প্রতিহিংসা ত্যজি অন্যে করবি পালন ॥

vrksa-sama ksama-guna karabi sadhana
pratihimsa tyaji anye karabi palana

Practise tolerance like a tree. Stop ill-treating others, instead nurture them.

জীবন-নির্ব্বাহে আনে উদ্বেগ না দিবে ।
পর-উপকারে নিজ-সুখ পাসরিবে ॥

jivana-nirvahe ane udvega na dibe
para-upakare nija-sukha pasaribe

Do not trouble others for your own upkeep, and forget your own happiness in the course of helping others.

You must always remember this. For your own happiness, for the pleasure of your own senses, do not harass others, do not give others any trouble or pain. At the same time, for the service of the Lord, you must be ready to accept as much pain and austerity as possible. No matter what pain, what austerity, hardship, what danger comes, no matter what difficulty comes, no matter what obstacles come, I will take everything on my head—I will never recoil. It is necessary to surrender to Sri Guru and Vaishnavs with this kind of mood. Gurudev, I am yours, please say just once that I am yours. You must just once say, "I am yours, and you are mine. I have come to your holy feet." It is necessary to submit everything—your mind, heart, soul, intelligence, body—at the holy feet of your Guru and Vaishnavs. Have no fear, no shyness, no shame, no ego—nothing. Submit everything to Gurudev, to the lotus feet of the Lord. This is how you must submit yourself (atma-samarpan).
