How many days will you be here in this world? One day you will leave. I see that over past few years, so many people have left! I get news from so many people—this Prabhu has left, that Prabhu has left; this person is nowhere to be seen, I ask where he is, and they say he has left his body. Every day, thousands and millions of jiva souls give up their bodies every day. Does everyone get to the Lord? Tell me. You have got this human body now, but there is some doubt whether you will get a human body again or not after that. As you sow, so you reap. You can see the example of Bharat Maharaj—he was a great king, but because he was thinking about a deer, he was born as a deer in his next life. So, you have got this body now, but if you live worrying about material things, worrying about food, then what will become of you?

Cats also have a material family, dogs have a material family, cows also have a material family, goats also have a material family—they all live material lives—and you too live this life engrossed in material family matters. I am not saying that you must leave your family and come to live in a jungle. If you can come to stay at the temple, it is good, but if you cannot, then you can live in your house with your family. I have told you: "Grhe thako, vane thako, sada 'Hari' bole dako, whether you stay in a house or in a forest, always call out the Holy Name. Krsnera samsara kara chhadi' anachara. Abandon sinful behaviour and dedicate your family life to Krishna."

It is necessary to leave anachar—anachar means all that which is not favourable to Krishna. It is necessary to leave everything that is opposed to the Lord. You can even do some low job as long as you come out of that which is opposed to Krishna, come out of talks and things that are not favourable to the Lord. We must accept that which is favourable to devotion, and we must reject that which is opposed to devotion, then we will get the highest benefit.

If you think you will do what is favourable and at the same time also do that which is unfavourable, it will not do. You think you will drink and at the same time drink also alcohol, then all the benefit of drinking milk will be taken by alcohol—it will not bring any benefit to your health. You will not get any result in this way. So, when you serve the Lord, you must follow that which is healthy. When a doctor prescribes some medicine to a patient, the doctor tells to take the medicine and to also follow a diet, giving up that which is unhealthy. In the same way, a bona fide guru also tells: do not take all those things that cannot be used in the service of the Lord (all the vile food—fish, meat, onion, garlic, etc.) and chant the Holy Name.

It is necessary to give up small things. So many people live in this world eating only vegetarian food. Doctors often say, "If you do not eat meat, your health will not be good, you will lack this, you will lack that. You must eat eggs, you must eat chicken." They will advise you all sorts of things, they will tell you what science is saying, but all this is actually ignorance, unscientific. We must follow what scriptures say—we must take shelter of a bona fide Guru, and we must follow what the Guru tells us, take initiation, live following his order—in this way, we must practise Krishna consciousness, chanting the glory of the Lord and Sri Guru—then we will get supreme benefit.

We can talk about this the whole day and night, but the main thing is that it is necessary to take shelter of a bona fide Guru and practise Krishna consciousness without any slacking, without any reluctance—always chant the Holy Name tirelessly, always serve the Lord tirelessly.
