Nityananda Prabhu's Arrangements His Divine Grace Om Vishnupad
When Mahaprabhu took sannyas in Katwa, Nityananda Prabhu was with Him. After taking sannyas, Mahaprabhu became extremely agitated and anxious to go to Vrindavan, and Nityananda Prabhu confused Him and took Him from Katwa to Shantipur. Another time, when Sivananda Sen, together with Nityananda Prabhu, was taking all the devotees to Puri, they were passing a village called Denur. Nityananda Prabhu kept his servant, Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur, in that place. He used some clever pretext to do that. He said to Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur, "Your material desires have not gone away yet. You have given Me this hartaki [a fruit eaten as a mouth freshener]—I remember I ate it yesterday, where did you get it today?" Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur explained, "I have kept some for You because I know You will ask for it." In reply to that, Nityananda Prabhu said, "Your tendency to accumulate and hoard things has not gone away. You have no qualification to be a brahmachari or become a sannyasi. Stay as a householder." In this way, Sri Nityananda Prabhu kept Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur in Denur. This place is situated near Bamunpara, the appearance place of Gurudev. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur installed the Deities of Nityananda Prabhu and Gaura Hari at the house of Ramahari Chakravarti in Denur and served there. In that place, he sat and composed Sri Chaitanya-bhagavata. You know that there is a temple of Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur in Mamgachi, Nabadwip: Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur is the son of Narayani, Srivas Pandit's niece. So, he was born in Mamgachi, Nabadwip, but lived most of his life in Denur. He composed one kirtan in glorification of Nityananda Prabhu there:
are bhai! nitai amara dayara avadhi! Brother! My Nitai's mercy is unlimited! Bestowing His mercy upon jiva souls, He wanders from place to place, incessantly and without any restriction offering everyone the treasure of transcendental love.
advaitera sange ranga, dharane na yaya anga, Revelling in the association of Advaita Acharya, He cannot control His body — He rolls on the ground, overwhelmed by divine love for Gaura. Swaying in ecstasy, He chants the Lord's Name with His arms upraised and tears stream from His two lotus eyes.
kapale tilaka sobhe, kutila-kuntala-lole His forehead is adorned with tilak; His curling locks swaying to and fro; He wears a crown of small guñja conchshells. His waist defeats a lion's waist, and He wears a blue dhoti around it. There are ankle bells tinkling on His reddish feet.
ke kahu nitaira guna jive dekhi sakaruna Who will I tell about Nitai's qualities? Seeing jiva souls and taking pity on them, Nitai delivered this world through the Holy Name. He blinds and drives Cupid crazy and causes a turmoil in the material world. You have not got devotion to this Nitai!?
bhuvana-mohana vesa! majaila saba desa! His beauty enchants the whole universe! He inundated the entire land! Overcome with ecstatic love, He roars with laughter! Lord Nityananda is my Master. He is the only source of spiritual joy. I, Vrndavan Das, sing His glories.
